Which is best? Creative Zen Nano Plus 1GB or Cowon iAudio U2

by groyal - 6/12/06 10:21 AM

I nd to buy a flash player asap & read some reviews. I've narrowed the selection to Creative Zen Nano Plus and Cowon iAudio U2. Can anyone offer reasons to choose one over the other? Really don't want to go with iPod. Thanks!

battery type and Plays for Sure

I narrowed it down to those 2 as well. Here's the only big difference that I see:

the Creative Zen Nano Plus uses a AAA battery and is ''Plays for Sure''

the Cowon iAudio U2 uses a rechargeable lithium battery; I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me if the U2 ''Plays for Sure'' and how important that is.

As far as batteries go, the choice depends on whether you prefer to buy a replacement battery after 19 hours of use then tossing the dead batteries into a landfill, or do you want to save the earth and recharge the lithium?

I decided to buy the Cowon--the rechargeable battery was key. Hopefully it's the right choice. Thanks again!

Rechargeable Batteries...

I have been considering the Zen Nano because of the AAA batteries. I, too, dislike the idea of filling up a landfill with batteries, but consider AAA rechargeable batteries. Why? If your internal battery fails, you can't easily (or at all) replace it. Second, consider customer support. I have read positive remarks on Creative's customer support, not so much from Cowon. These were the two that helped lean me toward Creative.

i much prefer creative for it's weight and size, having something you can take anywhere is great although if you want a better lcd cowon is best.

PS. the energy used to re-energize your recharageable batteries uses fossil fuels...

My decision...

I ended up buying a Cowon, but I got the iAudio U3. It's like the U2, but has 2GB and you can set it to record a radio program (which I haven't figured out how to do yet, and the instructions are laconic.) Other than that, I'm very happy with my purchase so far.
