Vidio Card Upgrade-Simple Unplug and Plug and Play?

by tinler - 6/14/06 6:37 AM

Hi, I am considering repacing my Nvidia FX 5200 with a Nvidia 7600GT. Is this a "unplug the old one and replace it with the new one" proceedure?
My computer has an AMD 64 3000+ Processor, 1 Gig of RAM and running Windows XP.
I didn't build this computer but bought it from a local small computer store which builds computers.
Thanks in advance for any information.

You usually discover you need to install the video card's drivers and then install DirectX again.

It won't work because...

...the 7600GT is a PCI-Express graphics card and the FX 5200 is an AGP card. The 7600GT simply won't fit into the slot, and there's nothing you can do besides buy a new motherboard.
