Choosing btw these two. Any advice?
THE PANASONIC, OF COURSE.
its around the same price, but in my opinion...the picture is a LOT MORE realistic. they make one with a dvr built in for around $3700 and the non-dvr one is around $3300.
for some reason...the samsung and panasonic plasma's that we have on display looks really "digitized" and very blocky. but thats just my opinion.
i just bought the samsung 5053 5 days ago.bestbuy had it in stock. i brought it home and took it out of the box ,plugged in my cheap wires and the picture looks great.now i am going to hook up the new computer to it. i feel it is a great tv for the price.
I have a samsung and I love it 50in plasma
Consumer Reports rates that panasonic model as their #2 top pick. the samsung model rated 22nd out of 25. i've been researching 50' plasma tv's for 3wks and am going with the panasonic th-50px60u. consumer reports #1 choice was the panasonic 50px500u - it has more bells and whistles (aka features, many of which you don't need if you have cable), but the 60u has a better picture quality. if you go to avs forums and look in their bigscreen/plasma tv section, you'll find that not many are impressed with the samsung. hope this helps you.
Thank you for the information. It's always good to have that reviews on hand before purchasing a product and more if there is expert advice such as Consumer Report.
PANASONIC will introduce its TH-50PX600U (with more bells and whistles; of course a higher price.)
river.
They have been released. Some stores have them, some are already backordered. They were released and available be the 42PX600U which are now in stock and shipping.
do you have any idea of the price difference?
If you're asking the price difference between the 42PX600U and the 50PX600U it is $900 after the 10% discount. I tyhink Panasonic charges the state sales tax. ABT only charges sales tax for certain states (listed on their site).
which one do you think is better? i talked to a panasonic rep the other day and he said the TH50PX600U has all the bells and whistles, but the TH50PX60U has the better picture quality. he also said the more features a model has, the less picture quality you get. is that true??
I think if Panasonic heard their rep tell a customer that you lose picture quality because you buy a set with more features they would be out the door so fast and I don't beleive the rep. I got the 42 600U over the 60U and can't tell the difference in it compared to the 60U in the stores. One interesting thing I found before my cable card was installed (which works great by the way), was the set would get the majority of my cable provider digital channels, plus pay per view movies.
If you think about this it is possible. The cable company sends the signal out over their system and the card or set top box decodes the signal. So if your set has the electronics to decode the signal, you have that service.
Hey guys,
Come on now--chill out. I've deleted your posts in that little scuffle you guys had with one another in this thread. Please keep your cool and be considerate to one another. If you can't abide by our forum policies on personal attacks, I kindly ask that you to leave.
Thanks for understanding!
