Good description....except

You are right about the dedicated GPU v.s. integrated ATI chip, except, he is talking about the DV2000z (14.1'' screen), not the 5000 series. The DV2000 has 2 general choices. The DV2000z with an AMD processor and Nvidia 6150 integrated chip, or the DV2000t with a Intel Core Duo processor and an Intel 950 integrated chip, so the dedicated GPU v.s. integrated GPU debate is not applicable here. And from what I hear, the 6150 blows the 950 out of the water.

But yes, the nVIDIA should beat the Intel chip and it beats the ATi RADEON XPRESS 200 integrated chipset. So for this model, maybe the AMD Turion X2 should be a better choice, but the dv2000 line from HP isn't build for a gaming utilisation so even if you choose the nVIDIA chip, you will not have fun playing with this graphics solution. A model like the dv5000t with the nVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 or the dv8000t with the Go 7600 is far better than the dv2000 line.

And even in a gaming utilisation, the Core Duo is better than the AMD chip, according to the test of M@tbe...

Do yourself a favor

At least check out and consider a Macbook. $1100 gets you a well equipped machine with a dual core chip, bluetooth, wifi, and of course OSX. Go to an Apple store if you can and try one out. If you stick with a win machine so be it, but for hassle free computing on reliable long lasting machines you cannot beat an Apple. Oh, and with the bootcamp program you can load windows on it as well if you absolutely must.

Take a look at http://istore.saintmarys.edu/?q=intel for a summary of each type. Keep in mind that there is a "Core 2 Duo" coming out in a few months that will likely end up making some of these models a little cheaper.
