Sanyo RL 7300 & Sprint

by Jon Walker - 3/11/04 8:02 AM

If anyone has this phone can you plz tell me how well the phone works and what features you like best about this phone. I am planning on buying it because I need something rugged that wont break easily.
Also, how has your experience with Sprint been?

I bought this phone yesterday. So far, I'm enjoying it.

The only thing I'm already not liking is the inability to sync my Outlook contacts with the phone - having to dial-type each of 150+ contacts is going to be a serious chore.

The WAP is great, the bundled messaging works very well; I recommend signing up for a PCS Vision plan to make the most out of it.

If you do not want to punch in all 150 contacts with your thumb...you can go to a Sprint PCS store and have them transfer the contacts from your old phone.

I found a slightly easier way to manage it - I just sent text messages to my phone containing the phone numbers and Email addresses for each contact - the 7300 has an option to copy text from a text message that looks like a phone number or Email address into the phone book - it then prompts you if this is for an existing phone book entry or a new entry, and you carry on from there.

Still, it'd be nice to sync it with Outlook in the long run. I'm actually looking for notes on developing a J2ME app that will parse VCF files...

I have been a sprint customer for over 2 years and use over a 1,000 min a month. I travel around the country and almost always have sprint pcs service. In fact I have 3 sprint phones and 1 is a rl 7300 we just upgraded to yesterday but so far I love the phone and intend to upgrade my personal phone to it in june. If you do get a sprint phone I highly reccommend getting what you want because you have to keep it 18 months before you can upgrade and take advantage of any rebates. If you do not care about rebates you can upgrade at any time. I love sprint service, features and coverage. This phone has 1 of the best speaker phones I have heard yet. The screen is large and easy to see and you can customize it to your needs. Sprint is more expensive then other carriers but I think they are the best you get what pay for..
