I see a lot of apologies for truckers and the way they drive. I can't see you. Waaahhh....
Sometimes it is true that people ride in a truckers blind spot. Not a good idea obviously. But, what about the times when I am passing the trucker and he decides that because he is bigger he can move over on me literally expecting me to get out of the way? This is the real issue and it is a problem.
My solution is that if a commercial driver is ever found to be at fault in a collision, he should lose his CDL permanently. That should make them run a little more carefully. And when you think about it, there really is no excuse for causing a crash. It is always due to some degree of carelessness or inattention.
My biggest peeve is the idiots who zoom through school parking lots, because their little John or Jane is late. Totally ignoring everyone else's John or Jane who may be walking through the same lot. One Idiot was clocked this AM doing 40 mph at Creekview Intermediate (Marysville, Ohio). He was told to slow down; he immediately cussed everyone out. He was driving a brand new large Ford SUV. Something like that has no business barrelling through a school parking lot.
My second is the people who forget that multiple lanes are in use on the HighWay at multiple speeds and endup doing 55 in the Fast lane and blocking traffic for 100's of yards. HIGHspeed expressWAY.. Get it? Arrrggghhhh! (and always at rush hour)
And last but not least, the idiots who can not spend $5 to get a headset to use with the cell phone while driving. I have been cut off by more idiots who were more busy yapping with a phone glued to their head than driving....
I would love to see a national push to DOUBLE the fines if a cell phone was involved in an accident along with a custom plate like they use with Drunks here in Ohio. ( an nice bright color so we can avoid them..) If they make it a mandantory ticket information item, their insurance rates can be adjusted accordingly as well.

There are not enough Highway Patrol cars out there on our roads to keep up with the GROWING number of illegal, dangerous, unkind, mean, and just plain dumb drivers on our roads these days.
Number one driving complaint that tops my list is tailgating! People seem to think they are professional nascar drivers the way they zip in and out of cars then snuggle up to your bumper.
If they just ease back and put a little distance between the cars traffic would flow alot faster.
To add to this they talk on cell phones without a handsfree. Most phones come with handsfree devices so use them!
In addition, if you are going slower than the traffic on your right on the freeway (or left depending on the country) perhaps it's time to move to the far right lane. Yes, you have the right to be in any lane but you are causing a back up and becoming a potential accident victim.
And lastly, one that is nearest and dearest to my heart, MOVE RIGHT FOR SIRENS AND LIGHTS!!! Get out of the way of police, ems and firefighters.
They are working very hard to help people so let them by. One day it might be you they are trying to save.
I agree with all the pet peeves so far! Where do these morons come from?
Cracker jack licensed bozos who think they're too important to signal a left or right hand turn on highway or city roads. Turn signals with your vehicle aren't a option at your car dealer for a reason. Use them or get rear ended!
People in a two-lane road that merges into one, due to road construction or other. Those nut cases who think I have to yield for them and practically crash into my car merging into my lane in front of me. It was their mistake getting in the wrong lane in the first place. They should wait to merge and not endanger someone else because of their impatience. Wait your turn or cause an accident!
People who take forever to pass a car in the left lane, and you're stuck behind them with both right and left lane blocked. I don't know if these Sunday drivers are snoozing or being a deliberate pain in the arse. Keep the left lane as open as possible, and that includes joy riders who think the left lane gives them a more comfy ride with their worn shocks. Move over to the right and reduce road rage episodes!
This realy ticks me off, you pull behind a driver waiting at a red light then when the light turns green signals a left turn and the sits there till the street is clear of oncoming trafic before turning or waits till the light turns again then darts through leaving you to wait through a cycle.
I deal with at least one of these clowns a week. That pisses me off!
I was surprised by the profile of the votes. While I don't condone driving while cell phoning, if the persond is driving safely otherwise I don't get too bent out of shape about it. The 2 most dangerous behaviors imho, tailgating and road rage, were further down in the voting than I expected.
Driving deserves full attention. Especially the younger drivers apparently feel the necessity to multi-task while driving. Anyway, multi-tasking is way overrated. Sure, cell phone use is not the only distraction or bad driving form. However, I suspect most of that cell phone use, especially among the youthful is just mindless, idle chatter.
Here in New Mexico the spirit of the old west lives on with aggressive cowboy driving. To which I add "may I top off your blinker fluid?"
Don't you think most of those SUVs and pickups driven by family types were bought to haul something bulky a handful of times a year. Now they suffer the 50 dollar plus fill ups. Giving someone with a pickup a 20 or so a few times a year while having a vehicle that gets 35 MPG rather than maybe 13 would be oh so disgustingly practical. But, hey, we were raised on cheap gas.
If we had European type fuel costs it would a hell of a different American lifestyle.
Agreed. Driving should be driving ONLY. There should be a law that if you are doing anything BUT driving, you get a ticket. Cell phone? Ticket. Reading? Ticket. Make-up? Ticket. Green Chile Cheeseburger & Fries? Ticket. Already weigh 300 pounds? Double ticket.
Drivers that casually toss their cigarette waste out the window are the most offensive and self centered people around!
In Washington State you can call a state wide litter line and report people who toss butts out the window. 1 complaint is a warning, 3 is a $850 fine. With all the freeway side fires that we've had in the past 4 years, maybe this will get people to stop throwing cigarettes out of their car.
When a driver gets in the car pool lane and goes slow it is impossibly frustrating because one cannot get out of the lane to go around until a break comes. We think these drivers do this to vent their rage at the world.
Talking on cell phones.
- ILLEGAL, yet apparently hard to enforce. (Hint: Honking your horn makes cell phone conversations problematic.)
Slow drivers in the fast lane.
- ILLEGAL on the freeway, if there is no traffic to their right
Lane changers who don't signal.
- ILLEGAL, although I've yet to see a police car use their turn signals.
Motorcyclists who drive between cars.
- THIS IS LEGAL! But most experienced riders consider it too risky.
