Lexar 256 Sport

by ust1268 - 5/19/06 8:15 AM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I'm loving it - had it for maybe 2 years now. It's great to be able to carry that instead of a briefcase full of floppys/CD's when I go on a call.

I just bought a Memorex 1GB Traveldrive, yet to be used.

Lexor 128 MB Jump Drive

by katsmeowcom - 5/19/06 9:12 AM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Our network died several months ago and we've never been able to get it to work since, so we just need something to let me get a few pictures or documents from one machine to another in the same home office. For several months I'd been uploading the files to my web host then downloading to my other PC, but my husband's PC doesn't have FTP sofware so I was wasting a lot of CD's moving data.

The Lexor Jump Drive was around $14.99 at WalMart and is super handy. It hangs on a keychain from a desk door handle when not in use. It was a pleasant surprise that it worked right off the bat in all our XP machines.

1 GB Memorex

by baledor - 5/19/06 9:15 AM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I got this baby for around forty bucks about five months back. A good deal even today for a 1 GB drive. Big enough to prove itself useful nearly every day at work. Memorex has always been a good name in storage and I highly recommend their jump drives.

Memorex traveldrive

by wbuffett - 10/25/06 2:41 PM In reply to: 1 GB Memorex by baledor

I've inserted it into my Apple tabletop (Tiger 10 plus) but no icon appears on the screen even when I restart my computer. Any suggestions?

Results not valid

by jorgefox - 5/19/06 9:56 AM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

By not allowing multiple answers, you've invalidated the poll results. Like many others, I have a stack of USB flash drives, from 64kB up to 1GB - some of which were giveaways at exhibitions or press events. You imply that everybody has just one drive, which I doubt is true. But you should have asked that question.

What Type USB Drive I use...

by Vinman - 5/19/06 11:15 AM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I use a PNY 512 MB falsh drive. I have had it for about a year now with no problems. For Christmas, my father got me a 1 GB LG flash drive that retracts, but about 2 months after I had it quit working. I had to take it apart to be able to access the data on it and transfer that data to my PNY drive. I think it had somethign to do with the contacts when you slide the connector out, but I have not investigated it further. I'll stick with the PNY. :-)

Sandisk 1gb

by RayGentry - 5/19/06 11:40 AM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I use a sandisk 1gb as my main USB drive. I have portable trillian and firefox loaded on it so i never have to be anywhere without my personal IM client or my browser. i also have a generic 512mb that i picked up at walmart just in case and to have a little extra one. prior to these two i had a sandisk 256 (i got that like two years ago, so it was decent size back then :)

8GB

by ranron - 5/19/06 12:11 PM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I started out with a 16Mb and when I started losing the drives, I moved up to the maximum capacity at the time without breaking the bank. Last time, I lost my 1GB Sandisk Cruzer and I replaced it with a 4GB Sandisk. I haven't lost my 4GB yet, but I had my friend send me a 8GB drive. Not sure what the brand is, but its metal casing and its light.

What size USB Flasn Drive

by MrJDubb - 5/19/06 1:15 PM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I use a 1GB drive from QuickDrive. I can easily transfer files from work and home. I trend to create many files at work and give them all Names with date and Time and subject.

Flash Drive

by Stan Chambers - 5/19/06 1:40 PM In reply to: What size USB Flasn Drive by MrJDubb

My opinion: The usb flash drive is one of the best new products to come along in a while. I've been using a 1GB Lexar drive for more than a year and have never had a problem with it. No more brief case or transferring the hdd, like the old days. If I want to carry my work home with me, it is the simplest thing to do. I also have many small programs, .exe files, on the drive. You never know when they will come in handy.

I use 1 GB PNY. I deal with lots of graphics, so this is a simple solution for me.

Where's the option for floppies ? J/K lol

by ludedude25 - 5/19/06 4:05 PM In reply to: What size USB flash drive do you use (and which type)? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Tho on occasion I have a USB floppy drive and use a old zip drive to transfer files on old machines.

Before thumb drives became popular I had purchased a extra compact flash drive and used it to transfer files, a few years later got a 128mb thumb drive and just this month got a great deal from newegg on a PNY 1GB USB 2.0 drive for under $35.

How nice it is to fit more info than a cdr on a flash drive and not having to worry about scratches :)
