Unbelievable! Wake up!

by jsargent - 5/16/06 12:05 AM

Wake up! In the UK and Europe where the average driver drives 12,000 miles per year and cars are manage 120,000 miles or more plenty of drivers get 35 MPG in the City and 50 MPG on the freeway.

Wake up! Buy a smaller car, drive carefully and at a steady spead. Any car getting less than 30 MPG in the city has got to suck. And reeeealy , do you need an SUV to go to the corner shop? (PS. A gallon of GAS in the UK cost more than 5 UK pounds = $8.50 and you are complaining about $3.50....wake up!)

I hear you.

We picked up our first Civic Hybrid in 2002, well before any of the noise you hear today. Just last month we picked up a shiny new model (same model) and the kid will take the 2003 Civic Hybrid to college. It was a challenge to make this happen but I feel it's best to teach by doing.

Both cars average well over 40 MPG overall (city and highway) so we don't feel the pinch at the pump.

Congrats on your inventor with his 6,000 MPG CAR.

Good to hear the parents will get a similar car to the kids.

How many times do the parents get the SUV and the kids get the VW Rabbit (that's a Golf in Europe)?
The Rabbit will be 30MPG in town and 40MPG on the freeway while mummy and daddy with the SUV get 20MPG in town and 25MPG on the Freeway.

Oh! Lets look at those Hybrid SUV's these days! Do I see the same model for SUV's in normal and Hybrid format? Yes and the different is only 2MPG ? That sucks when you can get the Honda Civic and save MPG right away.

Let's face it, most of you guys didn't do much in the 70's when the rest of the world decided there was an energy shortage. My Dad decided to dump the Ford Zepher and get a 2litre Ford Cortina 'coz petrol hit 1 UK Pound a gallon (that was when the 1UKP was 3 dollars).
