Graphics Card Help (serious)

by suleman1uk - 5/15/06 1:56 PM

Hello,

I am experiencing some problems with Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2. I bought the PC 8 months ago and have been receiving errors since then.

I have posted images below which show the errors, and will also detail exactly what happens.

http://img309.imageshack.us/img309/3946/error25ea.jpg
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/1049/error38tt.jpg

The PC that i am using has 1gb ram, intel pentium 4 cpu 3.00ghz and an ATI RADEON 9600. If it helps i can post a .nfo file of my system information.

The problem has occurred a lot of times on my PC. (note this computer has more than one account)

*When s surfing the internet, the computer just switches off!!!! I then start it up log on to my account and a window appears detailing the error (take a look at the images below)

*When i was playing a Far Cry demo, The Movies, AOE 3, Rome Total War Demo and America's Army. However it did not happen when i played Football Manager 2006, a game which has less graphics and more text. (do a search ''football manager 2006'' on Google images and you will see what i mean)

*When i was writing a document on Word 2003, the PC switched off

*It occurs sometimes when i convert an .avi file to DVD, and happened once when i was splitting and joining video files.

The Microsoft Crash Analysis which can be located at this site http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=ba1ad652-dc8c-499d-9d0c-20f26dd42a27&SID=10 said:

''Error caused by a device driver''

''A device driver installed on your computer caused the problem; however, we cannot determine the precise cause''

I have tried to get support from friends, who suggested the problem was with my graphics card. I have experimented with the Omega and the current
catalyst drivers (installing them correctly) and the errors always happen. A strange thing is that my brother has never experienced the error for himself. He only uses the internet, and MSN Messenger. It only happened to him once when he was playing a pool game on the net :)

Right now i have installed the catalyst control centre, and it's Systems Messages Event Viewer has logged the error (take a look at images below)

So Does anyone know what is the cause, and if there is a solution?

Thank You :-)

"the computer just switches off!!!!"

This is typical for overtaxed power supplies or overheated components. Some will want a driver to fix it but time after time I find hardware causes.

Have it repaired while you still have warranty.

It could be some problem on the motherboard or on the video card, or more general problems with power supply or cooling. If they can't find it, they swap everything so you get a practically new computer.

I hate Arbico!!!!!!!

I bought the PC from a company called Arbico (http://www.arbico.co.uk/home.php)My brother phoned them detailing the problem, and they said that they would test the hardware for any problems. We told them to check the hard-disk, RAM, sound card. And also to check the graphics card, by testing out the computer game where the serious system error first happened.

We also told them that the case was making ''clicking'' noises and that the power button was faulty. When we did send it, they said that they ''tested'' the PC hardware for errors. They fixed the faulty power button and said nothing was wrong with the graphics card. After supposedly analyzing the PC, they stated it was a software error. Which is shocking, and seems untrue as we had formatted the PC and sent it to them with Windows XP & the game (America's army) installed.

Now, there is no clinking noises, and the faulty power button has been replaced. However, the same problems still occur. A terrible company!!!!!!
