Gaming Laptop

by Ddeere2 - 5/14/06 8:32 PM

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting here(I'm probably doing something wrong). I've been looking for a new gaming laptop, currently, i have been looking at the alienware m9700. It has dual graphics cards and has a AMD Turion 64 Mobile Processor. Is there any other laptops out there that are better? If so, please tell me, i would like to know. Thanks

if you want a gaming laptop, ur looking at the top of the line right there. some people may tell you that alienware sucks and this or that, but if you feel like going for it, then go for it. it should be ur choice if you are willing to put up that kind of money. putting that kind of money into a computer from any company is risky, so i wouldnt listen to too many people about their beef with alienware.

another laptop that i can suggest, is the DELL XPS m1710. it doesnt have dual graphics, but its got a hell of a lot of gaming power and performance.

Like the post before me mentioned alienware just has the reputation of burning out after a year or two and having horrible customer service. Basically the theory on why they burn out goes like this they do their best to give you a computer that runs for at the time the best a personal computer can run. This means all the latest and most powerful parts. The problem with this is desktops are always ahead of laptops as they don't have to worry about cooling or power consumption but if you want a truly top of the line machine which is what alienware and other custom builders really try to give you then you have to put them in the laptop despite them being built for a desktop and as you can probably guess these parts get hot battery life up and generally just result in the destruction of your computer at a premature age if your unlucky. But yes as for a suggestion to a good gaming laptop the dell XPS m1710 is my favorite system right now it offers great parts for a laptop and will probably last you a lot longer than an alienware system. Another possible consideration is the toshiba G-35 which is really more of a media center laptop but would be ok for gaming in a laptop. Ultimatly it comes down to this though if you want something that is really top of the line either stick with a desktop as it will be cheaper to be upgraded when you need it or go with that laptop that best serves your need.
