I have been burning CD's for a while now with no problem. Recently I started getting a messase telling me my media was scratched or dirty etc and the disc closes out. I changed CD burners with no change. This also happens with DVD's. It happens in Windows media Player and other burning software I have. Again it was working fine. Any Ideas?
Try a CD lens cleaner and a firmware update if available.
Be familiar with CD Media World's information,"CD-R Quality" and make a good choice of material used.
Thanks but that's not the problem.
Have you made sure your IDE cables are good, on the MB tight, did you reset the CMOS, you may sometimes get a conflict that won't register. I have had this happen to me twice. It will say bad media, couldn't burn anything either. I took out the cmos battery for 15 seconds or so, put it back in and it worked thereafter. Funny thing was, it wasn't registering as an IRQ conflict, it simply wouldn't work. You may have a bad IDE controller , but that's another issue. What is your IDE configuration? Do you have two hard drives? one? how many cd\dvd devices? on what cable? What's the jumper settings?
