Not true. Ive never used gophone, but Cingular's service is pretty bad where i live. Ive also never had Virgin Mobile, but do know that they offer better rates and have two great phones by Kyocera (Slider Sonic and Switchback). These two phones are, IMO, better than the RAZR, and less expensive.

What state are you in?

I could help you out because I have Cingular, but from what you said in your first post you seem to want to know how it is in a specific area, I think.

I use Virgin Mobile

by PudgyOne - 5/7/06 9:22 PM In reply to: Virgin Mobile by brasilsp

I use Virgin Mobile. (they use the Sprint PCS Network) I do NOT talk on the phone much. I use the minute to minute plan.

25 cents a minute for the first 10 minutes everyday
10 cents a minute after that.
No roaming.
Free voicemail (you pay for airtime to check it)

There is a setting on the phone in the settings section that you have to change from 911 only to location on, this way when you leave the area, the system will look for you. I live in Lancaster, Pa and travel places and never have any problems with phone calls. The only problem that I have is sometimes if I go into a building (like Lowes or Home Depot) the building is made of steel and the signal is smothered. I do NOT get a signal in these type of buildings.

If you don't use a phone much, then do some research. Research the other pay as you phones for your ares. Figure out the price that you would pay for each minute. T-Mobile used to be you pay $34.00 for 100 minutes. That's 34 cents a minute. After you spend over $100 you get extra minutes, however, sometimes the coverage is worse. Trac Phone is also expensive. Cingular is somewhat reasonable, if you talk to other Cingular persons.

Actually I have been with Virgin Mobile for over half a year, and I think it is a great service. My phone (Kyocera K10 Royale) usually gets four bars, even indoors. I bought it back when I used to live in IL, (great reception there, no dropped calls or anything) and out here in CA it works even better.

Just because one person has had a bad time with Virgin Mobile doesn't mean everybody will. It mostly depends on how close you are to a cell phone tower.

So anyway, if you want an ultra-low-talker pay-as-you-go phone service, get the minute-2-minute plan from Virgin Mobile.
