Fixed my phone...WHEW!

by biomedbri - 11/30/05 10:03 AM In reply to: fluid repair by Michele063

I just ran into the same problem that many of you have been reporting in regards to the -Car Kit- mode. My phone just got stuck in this mode today and I jumped online to look for a solution as there was nothing in my User Guide. You would think that if it is a setting that could possibly come up on your phone display that they would mention it SOMEWHERE in the manual. But, alas, No. SO, I found this forum regarding the issue. I have not dropped my phone in the toilet, had a baby gum it to death, or been talking in the rain. What I did do, was plug my phone into a car charger that had a damp connector (the sunroof was left open last night and it rained). So, after reading the posting about using a spray cleaner that dries out moisture, I decided to try using a can of 'Power Duster'(air in a can) that I had on hand. I sprayed it in the charging port and VOILA...out of Car Kit mode after two minutes. I'm sure this isn't a silver bullet, but maybe it will work for some of you. Good Luck!

Canned air works!

by kshridharani - 6/12/08 5:46 AM In reply to: Thank You sooo much by PeterADavis

We had the car kit problem. We might have had the phone on the counter next to the bathroom sink. After reading the forum, I tried the canned air trick. It took about five seconds for the phone to just blink back into normal mode. Thanks for the idea!!

Can'o'air works like a charm

I did the same thing... I plugged my phone into a car charger that had moisture in it. The compressed air method worked like a charm.

I had the same CAR KIT issue. Verizon Wireless Store WERE EAGER TO SELL ME ANOTHER 2 YEAR PLAN WITH A NEW PHONE.

ALL I DID WAS BOUGHT AN AEROSOL(as indicated in this section) AND SPRAYED ALL OVER THE PHONE FEW MINUTES (WHILE PHONE WAS SWITCHED OFF). I turned the PHONE wow!! it was working fine.

Beware.. This CAN BE REPAIRED BY DRYING WITH AEROSOL. DONT BUY A NEW PHONE.
Thank you

Fixed car kit mode by

by cripita - 7/4/06 7:20 PM In reply to: Verizon LG VX6100 phone stuck in "CAR KIT" MODE- BEWARE by Michele063

I was in the shower today and I had my phone in the bathroom I had the water real hot and it got very humid and moist in there then I saw my phone lighting up and sayin car kit mode no ringtones where working or anything
so I was playing around with it and came to the solution of taking a blow dry and blowing all around the phone and in the ports so it got real hot and dried everything out and sure enough it worked doubt it will work for anyone
that hasn't done anything about the problem now unless the moisture is still in there but give it a try see what happens

Canned Air Worked For Me

by ndreis - 9/27/06 11:19 AM In reply to: Verizon LG VX6100 phone stuck in "CAR KIT" MODE- BEWARE by Michele063

After reading this forum, I immediately went down to Office Depot to pick up a can of air. Came back and sprayed my phone in all openings - the headset plug in, the charger plug in, opened the back and took out my battery and also sprayed inside, as well.

Turned the phone back on and was pleasantly surprised that the music was back. Unlike others on the forum, my display screen was perfectly intact - just no sounds.

Looks like I'm back in action. Oh, and my phone was working perfectly last night - no water or anything. I did pass out on top of it last night though, in bed, with the earphones still plugged in. So that probably has something to do with it.

fixed my phone, same problem

by vtwebwitch - 8/28/07 5:49 PM In reply to: Verizon LG VX6100 phone stuck in "CAR KIT" MODE- BEWARE by Michele063

After hearing from Verizon that the phone was dead and that there "is no fix", I waited a week, and when opening a bottle of baby aspirin saw a container designed to keep moisture out of the bottle. I put that container and the cell phone in a zip lock bag, closed it for 1/2 hour and then checked. Voila! the phone is working perfectly. I am sure there are other "moisture remover" products that might work as well, these are often packed with electronic devices when shipped from manufacturer
Good luck to all

fixed it!!

by q dilz - 9/16/07 11:46 AM In reply to: Verizon LG VX6100 phone stuck in "CAR KIT" MODE- BEWARE by Michele063

if you stick something small and metal into where the charger goes, most likely car kit will go away.

i stuck the back of my earring into the bottom of the phone and just pretty much poked around for a minute or so and then the car kit thing went away. it comes back every now and then but as soon as i stick the earring into the phone it works right away...

Car Kit

by Elizabeth TTC - 9/27/07 6:42 AM In reply to: help by jadaws

My problem started after I had difficulty using my charger, both inserting and then removing it. Looking inside I saw a pin on the right hand side that appeared to be bent. I moved it with a knife and the car kit message disappeared.

great idea

by jt123087 - 1/25/08 3:39 AM In reply to: Car Kit by Elizabeth TTC

For some reason I looked at my phone and saw it said car-kit. After taking a few calls and not being able to talk back into the phone but being only able to listen I wondered what was going on. After hours of searching through the phone I realized (like I'm sure all of you did) that there is no such setting as "Car-Kit". The solution:................................ All I did was plug my phone into the charger for literally 2 seconds and un-plug it and the "Car-Kit" label disappeared off my main screen and my phone worked great again. I hope this helps somebody out there.
