I noticed that 2 fans (on the back) were running from a power connect directly from the 650W power supply.
Can I run both of these fans from 1 fan plug-in from the mother board?
Those fan plugs are lower voltage, so the fans won't run as fast. Shared between two fans, you might well experience a heat buildup in your system that will result in all manner of problems.
Some power supplys have a "Fan" plug and it is indeed lower power. But the plugs that run devices are full power. These are all I use and in one machine I have 4 fans connected to one plug. Zero problems.
are powered through a chip that on'off modulates the voltage in accordance with the temperature. Although when hot it can provide 12 volts, it cannot provide it with sufficient current to power two fans. Good chance that you could burn the chip out.
While you could hook-up a dual fan setup, I recommend, NO. The current draw maybe too much for the simple land wiring of the mtrbd. and blow it like a fuse or curl it off, not good. Since, you mentioned a 650W psu, a direct hook-up isn't going to hurt that wiring from a fan. check, your mtbd. there maybe multiple fan hook-ups that maybe not apparent, but 1 fan per connection.
