good cars to tune

by carbuff55 - 12/14/05 12:14 PM In reply to: What Tuner Car to Get?!?! by cv4stm

personally i have a Eagle talon tsi it comes turbo charged so its a pretty quick car stock its a 98 i recently bought it for $5000 used decent miles but over all a good car and if your gunna get a tuner get a manual theres no point in having a automatic car if u want it to be fast

some other choices:
98 toyota supra
dodge srt4
chevy cobalt ss
volkswagen golf gti
ford focus
honda civic
scion Tc
scion xa
dodge stealth
lexus 1s3000(might be pricey)

u guys need some help...a lot of help!!!

by inpersonout - 12/15/05 7:37 AM In reply to: good cars to tune by carbuff55

I'm sorry, but i could not just go by letting this go by unoticed.
The cars that most of you guys are talking about are nothing any parents would give to their 16 year-old children.
Supra?! ...did someone say that a MUSTANG would cost too much insurance?

and btw...a mustang is an American Muscle car (to whoever said that a mustang is a tuner, LOL!)

Oh, and I'm more of a chevy guy..mustangs are alright, but a 1999? I'm sure there are a few good ones out there...lol, and a LOT of other ones that ppl drive cuz it's got the "Mustang" name on it, and it's cheap...don't get me wrong, my buddy owns a roush stage 3, and i agree it's very nice, but it doesn't sound like you (or your parents) can't afford something crazy..and having a fast car is a HIGH risk of auto accident for teens(hence the insurance)...i'm sure your parents wouldn't like that at all

to give you some honest advice...you're only about to get your license and your parents aren't rich, i'd figure..Have you even ever driven a manual before? it's nothing u can't get used to, but most ppl don't even learn mt at all these days! it's nice to have a dream, and make it come true...but don't try to pimp out your mom's old car. spending more money than a car is worth is not a good idea. don't waste the time and energy trying to look cool and drive fast...we have all done this(and sometimes still do)...AND we have all had friends die in stupid street racing accidents (whether it's their fault or not, they die and injur other people)...

what I did when i was 16...get whatever your parents will give you...and if it breaks down, FIX IT!..if it's an old car, i'm sure a few small projects would be fun and more gratifying. and later, go through college and get a good job...and even then, you still may not be able to get that dream car...goto college and come out driving a sweet nismo 350Z like me (parents helped me with that cuz I got a full scholarship to my university)...you should be tricking out a newer gen car that actually has a lot of potential before you even begin making mods. I was supposed to be looking for some nice stuff to do to my dash, but I saw this...just sorry.

i agree

if you go out and buy an expensive car you are dumb. the first car you get should be a beater. this is only because if you wrck it (which you most likley will) you wont care as much. thats just my view

muscle cars

by skater_719 - 1/30/06 5:58 PM In reply to: TUNER CARS SUCK by stewart norrie

yea i am sure muscle cars have tons of power, but you take that 30000 doller muscle car and put it up against a 8000$ used 3000gt and put about 5000$ into it, the 3000gt would not only smoke it in a drag race, it would handle 10000 times better then those led sled muscle cars. i also think that making your car look cool is the last thing you should do. i have an 93 integra, stage 3 clutch, flywheel, intake, coilovers, exaust headers and system, cams, and a few other goodies but it looks completely stock other than a little lower. so i'll pull up to a guy in a honda civic thats got an ugly body kit, hood scoops, and disguisting spoiler and a muffler to make it sound good. and when I hit the power he doesnt know what hit him, but hey at least he looks cool. i actually just smoked a chevy cobalt ss the other week. so for those of you who are dissin the little rice burner, most of them got more balls then any of ther other american led sleds that are 1/2 as reliable as a quality *** car. thats just my 2 cents.

you're a bit confused

by 0wnz - 1/31/06 1:03 PM In reply to: muscle cars by skater_719

when you talk about a $30000 muscle car, you mean one where the owner put all that money into the looks of the car, which usually means little to no performance. However, since the base displacement of a muscle car is vastly larger than that of your integra, or most any other rice burner stock (read: displacement, not horsepower or torque), there is a higher power potential. The imports use more advance tricks, like turbos or nos, to produce more power. But since the motor of a muscle car produces conciderable power naturally aspirated, adding a supercharger, turbo, or nos will push power past anything a little rice burner 4 or 6 cylinder car can make. And modern muscle cars (mustang gt, etc.) can be made to corner quite well with the addition of some quality suspension components. You can keep your little 4 cylinder engine, I'll take the cubic inches.

really??

by skater_719 - 1/31/06 5:54 PM In reply to: you're a bit confused by 0wnz

discplacement really does not mean anything, an engine can have huge cyl. but if the engine is of poor quality it will still be slower. example: i used to have a z28, much bigger engine than my integra, so if your statement about how discplacement is all that matters is true, the z28 should be quicker right? Wrong!!!! when i would get that peice running it was pretty quick, but if you took my integra up against it, it wouldnt even be a race. but as you say, cubic inches is all that matters, i mean, take a 450 hp, 1.3 liter geo (thier is such thing, seen them drag), and put it up against a 450 hp muscle car that weighs twice as much and watch what happens, OHH, THE MUSCLE CAR LOST TO A GEO!!!! here, thought i would do a little research and, well here ya go.

hmmm, i bet that muscle car with all of its cubic inches would still win. and when you say if you add supercharger, turbo, or nos, you would still have a lot of "rice burners" that would easily smoke you, take a look into supras, wrx sti's, evos, skylines, a few of them could smoke a muscle car completely stock for the same price, not to mention, except for the supra (rwd) they are all 4wd and could outhandle ANY muscle car. have i made my point?

lancer?

by evenif_cnet - 7/8/06 7:06 PM In reply to: dude...lancer by hefaistion

You only put 700 into a stock lancer and you burned a mustang? Mustang gts? I really wanna know how you did that with so little money. Turbo, underkit, and exhaust should set you back more than 700.

I would suggest you get a old civic. Easy to mod, cheap, vtec. The only thing about civics is that they are too common. If you can find something more unique. I am young too and just saved up money for the past 2 years. Just brought a 240sx. It was cheap, only 1,500. Almost have enough for my project, about 1k more and I should finish it. r32 engine swap, brembo brakes, aspen white paintjob, exhaust tip. All in all I should be pushing 400hp to the wheels. Anyway, good luck.
