MS Mouse

by Rod2 - 4/4/06 4:01 PM

I use win xp and bought a MS optical 5 button cord mouse. For some reason when I click on a link or click the X to close out a window or click on a task bar icon it may take two or three clicks to close or activate that program.

I have adjusted sensitivity and changed it to open with a single click. Many times it will work with one click but sometimes (a lot more than I like) it may take two or three clicks as mentioned. I'm goin to try another mouse but till I do, do you think is is computer related or mouse related. It is a clean machine. Any thoughts are welcome.

Are the correct and latest drivers installed?

Computers lacking sufficient RAM will also behave this way occasionally.

Mouse

The mouse is new with MS install cd. 512MB of RAM. Mouse pointer works smooth, no problem. It just won't alwas open or X out a program in one click.

I had a new cheap mouse that actacted erattic on any surface so I figgured a new MS mouse would do the trick. It works perfect except for that problem. There may be something wrong with the left button. Maybe I could reverse L&R button controls or dig up an old mouse. I'll see but thanks for your replies.

Pad Surface?

by auggief - 4/5/06 2:19 AM In reply to: MS Mouse by Rod2

When I got an optical mouse I had to change the pad from a shiny white to another color. It was also recommended that I try a piece of paper first just to see if reflection was the problem. It was so I changed pads.

New mouse...

It might be as simple as buying a defective mouse.
Take it back (send it back if you bought it online) and get a new one and see if that solves your problem.
Good luck,...Ron
