as of right now, the only rp hdtv that can accept 1080p via hdmi is the hp MD5880n and its 65 in. brother, correct? i plan on buying this tv in the next several days and i was wondering if there are any other tvs out there that accept 1080p via hdmi.
i was considering the Sony KDS-R60XBR1 as the reviews that i've read (CNET,S&V) state this offers the best picture quality. i plan on getting the ps3 or one of the next gen video players (hd dvd/blu ray) though, and i want a tv that can accept 1080p signals and is somewhat future proofed. i was considering the diamond series mitsubishis (WD-62927) but its looks like their hdmi won't accept 1080p but will accept it via computer inputs. plus i havent been able to read any reviews on this particular model. any links for this review known? if i hook my computer to the hp will it be able to display it in full 1080p as mitsubishi claims to be able to do? are there any tvs on the horizon that are coming out soon that aceept 1080p via hdmi? should i wait?
any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Sorry, but DLP chip sets are not capable of true 1080p.
Like many HDTV's out there your HP choice does something to the picture to produce 1080p. Google the term wobulation for an explanation.
Not that there is anything wrong with DLP sets, just if you are buying it because you think it is True 1080p you have been misinformed.
I guess I will have to suffer with a crappy 1080I picture when I buy a new blue ray player ha ha. have a nice day stewart
Sony blue Ray is outputing 1080P thru h.d.m.i,. But experts like Sirroundsound talk about wabilation Also my Toshiba claims 1080P and 1080I So I figure if blue ray looks as good as what I see in 1080I it will be a winner good luck to you stewart
According to several web sites including cnet the 1080p Samsungs due out this month will accept 1080p via hdmi. Correct me if I'm wrong.
on paper, 1080p certain sounds better then the current format being used, but so many questions has yet been answered. how much picture improvement can it display? where and how much source will be available? which models can and cant recieve the format? how will the format be supported by other equipment? along with the ps3, which has not even been released yet, this is a format that is virtually still in its experimental stages. i envy your willingness and budget to be the first in line. future proofing current technology is difficult enough, but is nearly impossible with new technology. good luck wth the purchase and keep us inform how it works out.
I was so happy when I bought my Toshiba 72HM195 witch claimes 1080P using the T/I XHD4 chip I was drooling just thinking about the 1080P picture I would have with a blue ray player Then someone brought up wobulation So know I guess I will have a fake 1080P picture ha ha But If i get a picture as good as I have in 1080I I will be the first to buy one anyone want to buy my lazor disk player ha ha stewart
I doubt there will be a leap year difference with picture quality from 2005 1080P to the 2006 1080P's that are actually recieving 1080P. I have the 60" XBR and I don't see what the difference is going to be except the HDMI 1.3 version input and recieving 1080P broadcasting.

..... i've been gaining weight? i've been using my head rather then my gut to make my decisions. the advantage with established technology over cutting edge is simple and clear. they've had the time to exercised their bugs and their system are widely supported.
I should get off the computer and on the treadmill. I have been on the wrong side of technogy before. Paid for something I didn't need or tried to save a buck and bought something I had to replace a short time later. It's happened before and it will happen again. Perhaps this forum will improve our chances.
Man you gotta check this one out. I just bought the Toshiba 1080p HDMI compatible 62" - 62XM195 model for just a little over $3000 bucks. I got everything I wanted and the image it's unbeatable. Look it up on the web, you'll find good reviews on it, even though I'm still not sure why CNET hasn't reviewed yet. Anyways check it out before you buy, you won’t regret it.
I also could find no reviews or information on the Toshiba I even asked the editors of c net to check it out I just happened to see on on display at a small vidio store and was blown away with the awsome picture quality. 1080P material knocks your socks off how do you like your Toshiba ? stewart
Man I coundn't be happier. It's got all I need and more. it's more than enough tv for now and future years to come also. The design is nice and the picture quality is even better. I have no complains so far, but I've only been with this tv set for about two weeks; I also got it for a good price and from a small local store since the Best buy and circuit city around here does not carry that particular model. Overall I cant complain at all.
