Finding 1080p programing??????
I spent sometime last week reaing about MinDV HD formats
and other digital recording.
It seems that ALL recording for HD is done in interlaced mode,,,, oh well so much 1080p.
OK, 1080p/24ps will be there for HD-DVDs as movies are filmed at 24fps, this makes the scanning frame by frame instead of trying to fudge 24 frames up to 30fps for video. Glad you finally getting some Sun. John

HD-DVD movies have play back up to 1080I for now on the new release of movies. But the HD-DVD players have the capability for 1080P. Blu-Ray says that they will have 1080P movies when released

pretty confusing stuff

Most of us don't care if it is true, blue or fudge. I don't even care about bragging rigts. It is about picture quality. I will buy a tv probably in the next month or so . I will keep it for many years. My current tv is 8 yrs old. When I visit a friend that has hd it is darn clear what I am missing. No side by side necessary. Eighteen months from now I don't want to see a 1080 tv somewhere and think ''Cr-p, that blows away that 720 I bought. That's just my thinking though.

A good 720 set will give you a stunning picture and a 1080I set looks as good as 70mm film So I believe if you have a 1080I or p t.v. a Blue ray or h.d. d.v.d. player will give you a beautiful picture. have a nice day stewart

color wheels are so archaic........

Post 10 of 25

Color wheels,,,UHG!!!

by jcrobso - 4/19/06 8:08 AM In reply to: DLP = Bad.... by kena10

The first DLP I worked with was an industrial unit. It wighted about 120lbs, but had 3DLP chips, the Picture was incrediable. One of hte reasons the the Sony and JVC LCoS look so good it that they are 3 chip sets.
With some of the new DLP ste comming out that use RGB LEDs and NO COLOR WHEELS, should be better. john

WITH THAT IN MIND

by Larry Pigeon - 4/19/06 9:07 AM In reply to: Color wheels,,,UHG!!! by jcrobso

WHAT ABOUT THE JVC 720P LCOS? IT IS MUCH CHEAPER ($1,200.00 OR SO) THAN THE SONY OR JVC 1080P LCOS BUT THE SAME TECHNOLOGY WITH THE THREE CHIPS. IT SEEMS TO HAVE MANY OF THE SAME FEATURES OF ITS 1080P BIG BROTHER AND THE JUST OUT 787 EVEN HAS 2 HDMI INPUTS.

JVC is the GM of electronics

by Dan Filice - 4/19/06 9:33 AM In reply to: WITH THAT IN MIND by Larry Pigeon

Good luck with a JVC unit if you decide to buy it. I've had several JVC electronic units (TV, VHS, camcorder) and all were made poorly and broke way too soon. This may just be my experience with JVC, but I will never buy another. I've had two GM cars and both became rattling buckets of bolts after two years. Never again. I think JVC and GM must share the same blue-prints.

SORRY ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH JVC AND THANKS FOR YOUR OPINION.

JVC is alright but........

by kena10 - 4/19/06 9:38 PM In reply to: BUT I SHOULD ALSO SAY by Larry Pigeon

I would never buy another JVC product again. I've had the same kind of reliability problems with the brand that I finally said, hey, spend the money and get something good. If you're trying to save some cash then I would sugest you get the KDS-R50XBR1.
