HP has to many dings to speak about when it come to support f,sure.owning a ipaq you must depend on your fellow ipaq users working together on product kinks.thats when forums are hp,s best friend for customer support. palm, there in big trouble with the 700 release.very very unlucky customers there.no getting out of that hole

Everybody is not having problems.

by jfitzge981 - 4/7/06 11:09 AM In reply to: subject support by Qosmio

Hey
You know you could line up 100 people and list a dozen products and ask for a simple, LIKE/DON'T LIKE answer and you probably would wind up 50/50. Yes some products are definatly better than others but everybody does not experience those problems you speak of. I have bought software that had a really good 5 star tech rating but only a 1 star user rating and was very happy with the product.
When you get forums like this you mainly get the negative issues because the people who are happy don't need to vent because, THEIR HAPPY. I know many people who would buy nothing but an apple PC but the world is running 98% windows.
Be Well
and have a happy day.

Dear jfitzge981:
>>You know you could line up 100 people and list a dozen products and ask for a simple, LIKE/DON'T LIKE answer and you probably would wind up 50/50.<<
POSSIBLY TRUE FOR DURABLE CONSUMER PRODUCTS.
FOR 'HP IPAQ 6515' 99% OF THE USERS ARE DISSATISFIED 99% OF THE TIME.
>>I have bought software that had a really good 5 star tech rating but only a 1 star user rating and was very happy with the product.<<
ITS LIKE FILMS WHERE SOME AWARD WINNERS ARE BORING AND UNIMAGINATIVE AND UNHEARD LOW BUDGET PRODUCTIONS ARE INTELLIGENTLY STIMULTING. BUT IN HARDWARE AN UNFRIENDLY DEVICE IS RECOGNISABLE BY ONE AND ALL.
>> When you get forums like this you mainly get the negative issues because the people who are happy don't need to vent because THEIR HAPPY <<
BEG TO DIFFER - WE GO TO FORUMS TO LEARN A LITTLE MORE AND POSSIBLY HELP OTHER
CHEERS !!!

thanks for spelling that out for jfitzge981.after 24 hr lack of sleep from work you said what i wanted to type hahahaha.one point i differ with you on would be 6500 user rating.cingular,s release of the 6500 and the UK-c model differ when it comes to customer statisfaction.there are many versions released to regions of the world with diffrence in rom as well add on,s affecting the device performance stability.inafect the postive forums as you said come together sharing the tics of there device swaping info rom/bt stack/big rom and on.when it comes to hp helping the users of the 6515 there is little to none.that would be the 99% unhappy mark.the QGPS firmware updates globallocate released inhansing gps accuracy--Hp had no idea what we were taking about then having them pulled off the globallocate offical site. now we must get them from GPS passion site.HP reinvent pleassssssss

After 24 hours of no sleep I can see why you might be hoping that someone else would your answer for you, been there done that.
You seem to know a lot about that hp model and I don't so you get the floor and I believe what you say. You are obviously an intelligent person, I have no reason to doubt you.

Be Well.

STOP YELLING AT ME

by jfitzge981 - 4/8/06 4:56 PM In reply to: Everybody is not having problems. by roameri

Ok maybe your right a little bit. We all have problems with some products and none with others. Right know for example I am having a really hard time installing Adobe Photshop and Adobe Elements. For some I am sure it's a breeze but right now I don't feel breezy.Be Well

SORRY!!! SORRY!!! >STOP YELLING AT ME<

by roameri - 4/16/06 8:21 PM In reply to: STOP YELLING AT ME by jfitzge981

Dear jfitzge981:
The moderator of the H.P. IPAQ forum of H.P. itself, himself/herself told me to be prepared for frustrations with the 6515.
If C-Net or PC-Mag had a list " Most User-Unfriendly Devices of the Year", I can bet the IPAQ 6515 would be in the first 5.
A device may be great but it has to be usable too.
But there is a plus side to this. You learn a lot of new things with user-unfriendly devices as you have to really get down to know it.
Cheers!!! Don't worry I'll lower my voice.
Regards,
j.

I am a computer novice (I think), so I only know what I read and use myself. I try to get a blend of consumer ratings and reviews from say CNET. But sometimes I have to just go with my instincts. There is some software that the consumer rating are so low it's a wonder anybody reading them would buy the product. But often it maybe software that I have used for years and I upgrade every year and have no problems at all.

Gonna so regret saying this...

Dude...get a Dell!!

bah could resist even tho i feel dirty and need a shower now.

I've owned a low end Dell Axim x30e for almost 3 years now. still in working condition and proved to be a useful thing over and over again.

So have you looked into the new x5something series of the Dell Axims? they're not bad, pricy but not bad.

As for me when ever i get around to paying my credit card off i'm buying me a robust Sharp W-ZERO3

Buy the Dell

by jonnywilko - 4/8/06 1:15 AM In reply to: Gonna so regret saying this... by Tien-Avenger

I have an x50V and have had no issues with applications. The unit works and syncs great. A year ago when I first got it the display acted up. One call to Del and the next day a replacement.

As for HP, been there done that, would never again. The unit just would not work correctly.

I prefer Palm

by dneunabe - 4/15/06 7:01 PM In reply to: PDA vs Pocket PC by jfitzge981

My experience has been this...I've owned three Palms, the last being the M515. I had my share of trouble, but nothing like what happened with iPAQ 4350. It cost a whole lot more ($430 vs $150 for the Palm 515 refurbished). I could carry the Palm around in my pocket without a problem, when I did that with the iPAQ, the screen broke, and I bought another. Lately, I have been unable to get it synchronize with my computer, and techical support at HP has been very responsive, but after hours, I was told I have to return it for repair. Lucky I have a month left on the warranty. Bottom line: HP iPAQ was very expensive and quite unreliable. If Palm hasn't changed since M515, I'm going back when it's time to upgrade. HP was very disappointing. So, don't could on troublefree life with an HP Pocket PC

Yeah but that's just...

HPs
Almost everyone has something to say about HP and their technical support and how crappy it is. Dont let that turn you away from Pocket PCs in general.

Dell Axims are great. I've had my x30 for over 3 years and upgraded to a x51v only thing i gotta complain about it is they havent shipped it yet...

Message to Dell - SHIP IT ALREADY!!

A couple notes...

by John.Wilkinson Moderator - 4/20/06 4:07 PM In reply to: Yeah but that's just... by Tien-Avenger

When it comes to HP PDAs, I think they're overpriced for what you're getting (though their computers and printers are nicely-priced), and up until 4 years ago I would have agreed with you concerning the tech support. However, since then they're really turned it around and I've been completely satisfied in my experiences with them. (I use live chat and e-mail, not telephone support, which I've heard makes a difference.) With Dell, on the other hand, I received the runaround too many times...ended up turning to my fellow users.

In any case, it's the price and features that led to to purchase the Axim X30 high, which still accompanies me throughout the day. I'd like to note, though, that the X30 line was released in May 2004, so you've had it for less than two years, not over three. Perhaps you're referring to Axims in general, or the X3, which had the same design and was released in October 2003?

Finally, from what I've heard Dell has no plans on developing a new line of PDAs at this time...the X51 is as far as they can go spec-wise, so they're going to stick with that until the 1.2GHz processor and such come out, at which time they'll reevaluate their position. (They may decide to go in the uPC direction.) Thus, your X51v shouldn't be labeled as obsolete as fast as the X30 was.

Regards,
John

Hello - The reason I would prefer a portable PDA size computer that fits and fills many needs is so you can combine many gadets with one super gadet. I reallt think that the PC industry will eventually go that way. The unit would have as much power and storage as you want to spend money on. When you take your lap top home on Friday from work you can put it into it's docking station and when you go back to work you re-dock it.
I think we need to go further with the same idea. When you are able to carry a full power PC around in your pocket when you get home you can dock it and use your say 30 inch monitor. Read your bio, take care.
Be Well,
John
