I access the internet via WiFi from all of those places, with home and work being daily and the others as appropriate. However, even my PDA has a firewall, and I only give out personal information while using a secure connection, not at public hotspots. In addition, I must say I have never used someone's WiFi service without permission.

Server and 3/4 laptops networked and connected to internet.
Much easier than cabling the house, and 54M bps limit is not a problem.
Not used outside home yet, but many universities now have campus wide wi-fi, so great for students with laptops.
I am responding to this discussion thread on MY WiFi network. I use WiFi in airports, hotels, and at home. I generally choose a hotel with free or fee WiFi over one that has Dial Up or other means because it's so easy to use.
Hi there, I was just looking at the figures of the poll, and rather surprised to see ''In The Office'' so low! Does this imply that Wi-Fi usage in the offices as a standard networking access method is not quite so popular/wide-spread yet? Comments & thoughts welcome.
TIA
Currently, I access Wi-Fi daily at home.
I never use wifi, and never use internet on the go. Don't get me wrong i love the net but if you can't live without it, you're either very sad or too reliant on it.

I do use Zone Alarm Pro and Mcaffee Virus Scan Online, but the most important safety tool is just common sense. The type of website that will give you ugly little surprises is usually pretty easy to avoid.
I always prefer a wired connection. It is faster and more secure (and has less EMF radiation).
However, when visiting a relative, or vacationing somewhere, if a wired connection is not conveniently available, it is hard to beat Wi-Fi.
Thanks Panera! You guys give me a good lunch and free net access! I don't know what I'd do without you.
I have to go to a town 20 mi from me to d/l files fast at a coffee shop. I go every sunday morning. All I can get at home is 46.2 kbs. I am 1/4 mi from dsl, cable. It will never reach me. They told me they would extend the service for $8000 "SURE". Will they ever get service to me Wi-fi or anything but Satelitte its to expensive? Anything out there in the near future?

Mr. Rural,
Do a Google search for 'WIMMAX.' In the next 3-5 years, all ISP service will be provided via WIMMAX. This service can be broadcasted in a 30 mile radius. As I understand it, the entire country of South Korea has WIMMAX. I believe San Fransico has free, WIMMAX city-wide now. Chicago, NYC, and other major metro-areas, presently have WIMMAX systems under construction.
I've read several articles on WIMMAX and according to these articles this is the future of Internet service. Cable, Dial-up, DSL, will soon be a thing of the past....in the next 3-5 years.
As I see it this is good news for the consumer, as we will be able to pay for service and be able to enjoy it anywhere we desire to use it. No longer will be trapped using our Internet service at home, office, or whatever physical location we pay for it. We will be able to use it at home, office, car, park, woods (uploading photos from our camera to our home PC), and no longer tethered to a stationary account.
Not absolutely certain about the spelling of the broadcast ISP, but pretty certain it is: WIMMAX.

We have both wired and wireless on the same network at home. Internet access is through cable. I work from home and use my wireless laptop about 12 hours a day. My wife also has a wireless laptop. It is so convenient to just be able to work wherever. One wireless router covers the whole house and out into the yard. We're far enough back from the street that wireless coverage doesn't extend that far.
