My first and still only digital camera is a Cyber-shot 7.2,
I love it, although I think there is more I should know about it and more still I can do with it. I have had it a year and honestly have not really opened the booklet and studied it too hard. I just put in the batteries, set a couple things and point and shoot. The colors and sharpness are amazing. I took it out many a times to the country and have shot some awesome shots that I have printed off and hang throughout my house. Many ask where I purchased the pic's from, I smile and tell them.
I couldn't (in my opinion) have picked a better starter camera.
Moving up with cameras is like keeping your tools sharp.
I started in 1996 with a casio, It barely deserved the name Camera, but it gave me the bug
I quickly (Less than a year later) moved up to a Sony Mavica, A bit better, with the convenience of storing Photos on a floppy
Next was a Kodak DC 280 2.1 MP and that my friends was some camera for the time, It got me hooked on photoshop. Kodak knows one thing: Color!
When this broke after 3 years and 3000 pictures, I bought a 5mp Olympus c50. Coming from a Kodak, the color quality was a bit anticlimatic, and since I like doing nature photos, the 3X zoom was woefully inadequate. A year later, I traded to a kodak DX 7590 with a 10X zoom, I now don't have to ever retouch/saturate the colors. If Kodak ever does an SLR, I'll jump on that.
I have owned only one, which I still use - a Canon A20 (2.1 MP) It takes great pictures. Color is especially good. Doesn't take video clips though. I could use that. This camera made me forget film cameras entirely. I gave away my old SLR with multiple lenses.
I have one Caono DSLR for when I'm in rough, dirty, or sandy places that is not worth as much as my better DSLR. I use the better Canon for portriats, and paid work when I can get it, it has the better seals and heavy body. I have a Fuji point and shoot that fits in my pocket (when I can find it) that's perfect for snap shots but only in great light and slow moving things (It's older and the shutter lag is slow). I have an old Kodak point and shoot that I still like to use, it's big and clunky and eats batteries but it's also sturdy and no one would want to steal it! and last I have a odd one I got on ebay, no brand name and it looks like a part from a broken toy, it has a plastic lens and gives me effects like a Holga, I never know what I'm going to get from it and thats most of the fun in using it!
I have owned 3 starting with a cheap Casio with only internal memory, then an Olympus D460 (still own), and recently an all in one Mustek 3d Adventure
#1: Kodak DC240 - purchased in Feb 1999
#2: Canon G2 purchased in April 2003 (now my wife's)
#3: Panasonic Lumix FZ20 - purchased in April 2005
I guess I should also consider my Sony digital video camera (TRV30) which takes still shots (not very good ones) which I purchased in August 2002.
As a side note, I'm disappointed in myself that I've never taken the time to really get beyond the point-and-shoot settings for my digital cameras. One of these days.....
That Panasonic is a great camera... I hesitated a lot between that camera and the canon 350d. Eventualy I went for the Canon, but bucjs for quality the Panosonic is unbeatable... many manual functions and great lens (Laica...!!!!). My advise is that you turn every autothing you can and just shoot and shoot without concerns... Light is a major aspect in photography... play with those settings, I think the Panasonic allows it... Beware, thou... it can turn out to be adictive!!! Have fun!
I first bought a Sony DSC F717 before my daugther was born and went on to take more photos than in all my previous years of film photography combined. But the camera was a bit large so my wife didn't want to take it places, so I bought a Panasonic FZ3 which was small but not mini, yet I had a very nice Leica lens. This camera takes very good pictures and is a great backpacker as well becasue of its lightwaeigth. Finally as DSLRs came down in proce I reached out and got A NIKON D200, spend a ton and more on lenses and now I no longer have the option of being casual about photography. I have to dedicate x percentage of idle time to photography or I get severe episodes of buyers guilt. The results are better with the D200, but the Panasonic put me out of $240 while the Nikon, if I count the lenses did me in for 10 times that.
I had a Canon Powershot A60 and just got a new Olympus Stylus 720SW
my digital camera is an olympus az1
My first one was an HP-something, from the time that 4MP were the top of the line. I owned that camera for years until I had a problem with the viewfinder. This thing used so much juice for the screen that you could only take like 3 photos (and not thinking much about them..). Only viewfinder from then on... Lots of noise and only ISO 400. Then, a couple of months ago I bought the camera of my life so far. A Canon 350D (Rebel xt in US, I think...). I always used a 35mm Canon and with the 350d I got to use the lens from the old one. So now I have 3 lens, one of which is a big 100-300mm. Great camera for the price, as far as I can see, there is nothing close to this for this kind of money... The problem is that after a while you start thinking on how great it would be if you get that lens and that.... and that great lens is always some $500 or more...
I have owned two digital cameras. The first one was a Canon A70 which unfortunately was lost.
I thought that I would upgrade to a camera with higher megapixels and a greater zoom range and on the reports that I had read considered the Olympus C-770 an ideal candidate.
When I went to the store I looked at the Olympus C-770 and although it had all the features that I wanted it was a little small for comfortable use in my hands.
I liked the fact that you could record video up to the memory in your card with this camera.
I then saw the upgrade to the Canon A70 the Canon A510 and although it was only 3.2 megapixels like the A70 it had a larger LCD and a 4x optical zoom rather than a 3x one.
It was also more comfortable in my hands than the Olympus C-770.
When I thought about how I had used the A70 the A510 was an upgrade at a lower price meeting my immediate requirements.
I have been very happy with the Canon A510 which performs very well for a budget camera.
1989? Sony Maciva Remember the floppy disk? Since it was my first one It was fun. I then moved on to a
Kodak 3.1 Better resolution, I love it. Still use it often
2004 Fugi Film 6.1 Mega Pixels. Oh what a great camers. There is nothing in my book that is better. Takes short talking movies, Very high resolution, micro close. I am still learning all the bells and whistles.
Now I just ordered a 800 Magellan GPS, well thats another subject. I love toys
I'm going on my third one and so far haven't had the greatest of luck! All though, my first one was a giveaway from a trip that my daughter still uses, and it was one of the first - something like a 2 or 3 mega-pixel. Surprising, it still works! My second was the 8 mega-pixel Sony that was supposed to revolutionize the digital camera world. It cost a whopping $1800.00 and lasted about 3 years. Apparently, it's an inherent problem that Sony won't give you the answer to unless you pay them the big bucks and send your camera in! Unfortunately, we don't have a Sony place in our country (Belize) and sending it to the US by any method available here is more than just a little scary. But I guess it doesn't really matter, it doesn't work now. If anyone has an answer for me, I would appreciate it and can get you a great deal on accomadations if you ever come to Belize! If not, how about some suggestions as to which camera(s) I should be looking at and why. The climate here is brutal - to say the least. It's hot, humid and dusty, all at the same time. We live on an island in the Caribbean that has yet to be mondernized to the point of ????????????? Golf carts aare the main mode of transport!!! I'm loosing days and days of beautiful sunrises without it, so please, please help me out!
Thanks in advance,
Paul.
Im on my first digital camera. It is a kodak cx7330.I just love it.
