I hadn't read through all of went I sent, only that it pointed you in the right direction. Having said that, I'm not sure I would even understand it myself. And I've been at this forum long enough to know. (I didn't even take the time to read it, when I first got here. A lot of trial and error. In time.. you'll figure it out. No question.)
Good luck with it all. Stop by again, if you have any problems. You may not get such a ''welcomed response'' the next time, since your problem was posted in the Newletter. People come out of the woodwork and quickly disappear. People will be answering your question for weeks and months to come. LOL Well after it's been solved. BUT.. there are very well-intentioned people here, who are more then anxious and willing to help. (Count me in!)
And kind regards.. to you too! Enjoy your weekend.
Carol
You're absolutely right, even though I had read your post (which I did not really have to because I was only interested in offering help), I did not follow the link in your post simply because it said "LINK".
My mistake.
But still I see no reason for you to get offended (which was not at all my intention), after all, it is SYMANTEC's solution (neither yours nor mine), right?
Anyway, we're all only trying to help and even learn when we can...
Cheers and more apologies.

Did you also try installing and running CW SHREDDER?

Thanx,

CNET newsletters so people are just clicking on a link in an e-mail to get here and post so you will see 20 posts with the same info sometimes. You are wasting your time even trying to keep up with it any more. Once CNET does this, I ignore these threads completely. ![]()
comes overnight on Thursday nights so if you see a thread go nuts all of a sudden, you'll know why. Same thing on Monday or Tuesday when the Security newsletter comes out. I subscribe to both of these so I know but usually it's not even necessary to do that. Usually they link to the controversial threads which just create more havoc so they serve no purpose whatsoever IMO so they get ignored by me and others. I have discussed this with Admin but they disagree so Admin can monitor them as far as I am concerned.
Symantec, a company with which I now have a serious issue, does have an on-line virus detector. I THINK it is available to anyone, thus I suspect you need not be a subscriber. I had to use it just yesterday and it detected a virus, and the offending files, that were not detected by Internet Security 2006, which I purchased. That on-line software may help. I hope it does.
To access that program, you MUST use Internet Explorer (unfortunately); please go to http://www.symantec.com/index.htm, find the line entitled "Top Links", which is immediately beneath the photo with the included caption, in white letters, "Helping ensure the security and availability of your information." Click on Viruses & Risks, located along that line. In the page brought up by that click, scroll down a little and look along the left margin for the heading "virus definitions" in gray letters. Beneath that, in red letters, click on "Online Virus and Security Check" then click on "Go". That brings up a page with Security Scan and Virus Detection. Click on the Start button beneath Virus Detection then follow instructions. IF there is a virus, you will get amessage stating same and that message will also identify the offending file(s). It won't remove them, but at least you will know which one(s)is(are) responsible, then you should be able to remove them in the normal way.
Good Luck!
There is a free program that I have used several times for this problem. The program is WHOLOCKME and is available at www.dr-hoiby.com/WhoLockMe/. This program has failed on me only once and I have had no adverse reactions. Hope this helps.
I had a similar problem with a different file. Visit this best designed site I've seen in ages http://www.gibinsoft.net/.
Click 'File Utilities' in the left frame.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "Old Version (Freeware)" section and download "GiPo@MoveOnBoot 1.9.5 (English), EXE-setup (644 Kb)". What A great program!!
Hey i think u should try rebooting in Safe Mode, search for the file wherever it is...then try deleting it.
This file is related to spyware.
The irunin.lng file is installed and used by keylogger Home Watcher and Ptakks.
This link has some instructions for removal.
