2 OLYMUPUS STYLUS 400 AND FUJI FINEPIX 2600ZOOM

by ipide - 4/7/06 9:30 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Looking to upgrade to a 12X with optical zoom and image stablization.

Thought I wanted the Sony H1, can get it on dell.com for 20% off and a $10.00 coupon and more if I want to bid on ebay for additional stacking coupons, priced at $269.00 with free shipping with a ship out date of May 8 but wanted to use it before our trip of May 22 and do not know weather to trust them with their ship dates, cause it is not is stock. Also looking at the Cannon...guess I will go to the store and get a feel for one of them....

Still get good all around pics for everyday use. Not very good in poor lighting but then I don't take many pics in poor lighting.

(NT) I've had three digital cameras-

by jimirod - 4/7/06 9:40 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

The first was the most expensive at about 5 hundred dollars and it lasted less than a year back in 2000.
It had problems from the beginning with focus and quality of shots - oh ya, it had a French name and I think Minolta made it.(Oh Ya, it lasted about a year and quit after the warrenty expired) The second was some off brand thing sent out by Earthlink ISP Service. I was a toy compared to the Minolta.
The last Camera was a Canon S250 Elf and it has lasted and still takes really great shots, really great is not an exaggeration. The next Camera will be a Canon Elf 700 or something in that number range.
I like this size camera because you can forget you have it and like a wallet its there when you need it.
I take hundreds of photos of the dog park characters - people and pets-here in town.

My digital camera is 6 years old

by Carol77garr - 4/7/06 9:43 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I knew nothing about them so I ended up letting the salesman tell me which one to buy. I ended up with an Olympus but it is so complicated, it has a thick book that goes with it. I ended up finding out the fastest way to use it & only use the shortcut I could understand & the rest is for whoever is a professional. So, next time, I would ge a digital camera that is easier to understand without so many buttons on it. I guess it is a good camera, only 3.1 megapixels but the book is too thick to memorize.

Get a multi card reader!

by mu2freighter - 4/7/06 10:05 AM In reply to: had four by johnathanbc

I know what you mean about having several memory card types to deal with. I only have one camera, my Olympus C-770, with its xD card, but my cell phone takes a TransFlash card...which is so tiny it comes with a CF adapter. Had to have that though, a 512mb card was only about $40 on eBay and having half a gig to store all kinds of music, data, whatever is awfully handy.

I'd suggest getting on eBay and grabbing a multi card reader, I got a 22-in-1 USB reader for about 10 bucks including shipping from a Hong Kong seller, and it works perfectly. It could even take the old SmartMedia card from my previous camera if I had need of that!

On my second Olympus, love it!

by mu2freighter - 4/7/06 9:56 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

My first digicam was an Olympus D-490 Zoom, 2.1 mp, that I researched here on CNET and purchased in 2001.

It served me flawlessly till last January, when I upgraded to another Olympus, this time a 4 mp C-770 Ultra Zoom, also researched on CNET.

I bought the 770 more because of its features than because of brand loyalty; its 10X optical zoom, MPEG4 video and other features made it the one for me. I love it, and wrote a pretty comprehensive review on it here.

I've also purchased 3 other cameras as gifts, all of them Canons, an A60, A75, and A510. The recipients love them, and with the exception of an occurrance of the infamous E18 error in the A510 (remedied at no cost by Canon), they too have given good satisfaction.

Five -- upgrades and weight

by kaycep - 4/7/06 10:15 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Started waaay back with Olympus A 300, no card to be used. Upgrade from there to Olympus D-4000, but a very heavy camera to cart around, and large. Olympus S300 for pocket use, then FinePix S5200 for the 10x zoom, and the F460 now for pocket use.

Oops -- that's six, isn't it?

First one. Good except...

by djohlson - 4/7/06 11:20 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I still have my first digital camera--Canon PowerShot A70. Just after the warranty passed, there was a problem. The down switch on the back panel, allowing you to view all the photos in the camera did not function. Rather than spend the $125 to have it sent and repaired by Canon, I decided to keep it as is. Otherwise it works fine and I recently sold my Camera A70, SLR. I love digital, no going back.

I hated photography until digital

by john l. - 4/7/06 11:27 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Bought a Nikon Coolpix 7900 Digital Camera and a Dell Dimension 4700 Computer with printer and DSL. Love getting photos from the Nikon onto computer(doctoring them) and printing or sending them to friends. The Nikon is point and shoot compact at 7.1 megapixels with a 3x glass zoom + 4x digital zoom. Also, has fixes for red eye and lighting. Now I'm happy.

4 cameras

by Thinktank213 - 4/7/06 11:30 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I origionaly bought a 2 megapixl cam, because it was what was avaliable. Next I moved up to a 4 MP as technology progressed. Then I bought the Canon EOS Rebel which was great then the XT cam out and I jumped on that one. I think that the Canon Digital Rebel XT will last for a while. I love the simple point and shoot. I also love the amount of control it gives me to move away from the point and shoot and get really creative.

How many digital cameras have I owned - (one)

by laurie Werner - 4/7/06 11:31 AM In reply to: How many digital cameras have you owned? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Bought a digital Canon Rebel XT in October of 2005 and I love it. I got tired of putting pictures in photo albums that got stored away and seldom looked at and I was not happy with local processing. Now I buy a 1 GB card and snap to my hearts content without worrying about having to change film at a crucial time ie. weddings.
