I'm going with either a 42" or a 37" Pana PX60U. Only question is where to purchase it and how to hook it up to my receiver. I doubt that my 3 yr. old Denon 1803 Receiver has an HDMI input. In that case, do I just use component inputs with the special adapters that I've read about on this forum?
Thanks for your input.
Run your vidio straight from your box to the t.v. Use either componit, h.d.m.i., or d.v.i. cables then run optical audio output to your amp . good luck stewart
Get a new receiver that does HDMI switching. If you don't want to spend too much money on getting a Denon that does it, get a Yamaha HTR-5990 on Ebay brand new for about 500 bucks. It has 2 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out and I believe it also has 3 sets of component inputs along with optical and the rest of the stuff you already have on your old Denon.
the biggest reason why you would want to use a receiver to do HDMI switching is because every signal that is fed into the receiver gets sent to the tv at as an upconverted 1080i signal, so the picture looks a bit better.
Are there any that will upconvert to 1080P? I'm planning on buying the Sony XBR SXRD 60 inch.
Sony XBR SXRD 60 won't accept 1080p input on HDMI - will need to wait for new models later this year - at least September for what I hear.
The only information I got was the Sony xbr does 1080 it does not say I or P. My new toshiba will do both I and P and watching Discovery h,d, theater in 1080I is mindblowing I dont see how much better 1080P would look I guess we will have to wait and see what blue ray looks like good luck stewart
.....component connectors at the TV also. You might find that it looks great. That's a nice receiver you have there. Forget the HDMI hook-up until you finally upgrade the receiver. Don't be in a hurry.

Well, no way I am ditching the Denon receiver--it's only 2 years old and it's a nice unit so even though it doesn't have an HDMI input, I think I'll take the advice of running HDMI from TV to Sat and then optical to the receiver.
Thanks for your collective input.
Two things about HDMI: First - a new standard for HDMI is coming that may obsolete current HDMI hookups. Second, many audio nerds feel that the audio section of the HDMI cable is limited in bandwidth.
Also new HDCP/AACS Anti-Piracy encrption may not work through receiver (or any other switching).
I like keeping the video and audio connections souce to display direct, and I feel fiber optic is superior than running it through an HDMI cable.
You old DENON (I have a 3805) surely has fiber optic for the audio. You can use DVI or HDMI for the video.
Just bought one and saved a bundle because it doesent have h.d.m.i. switching who cares, I bought a Gifin d.v.i. switcher with remote control. run my d.v.d. player and hi-def sat box thru the switcher and then a d.v.i. to h.d.m.i. cable to the t.v. no that other h.d.m.i port on the t.v. is just waiting for a blue ray player I also agree that using optical audio connections gives you mindbending 5.1 Also what speakers are you using with your Denon? I just bought a 5.1. Atlantic Techonology 4200 speaker system with my Denon And the dealer was nice to me He set up everything for me, brought over the special microphone and did a auto set up which e.q. and balanced all 6 speakers. The only problem is I have to change the remote control batteries every two month that remote light display really tears up the batteries ha ha, but the Denon and A/T speakers are a match made in heaven good luck top you stewart
