ICDSoft.com

Great host. Excellent control panel. Versatile, modular, inexpensive, etc., etc., so on, and so forth. ICDSoft is an excellent host that I have used for several years.

Go visit http://www.webhostingjury.com/reviews/ICDsoft.

Another thing to consider is the "herd mentality" that people tend to emulate when looking at these things. GoDaddy.com has cool (eye catching) SuperBowl TV ads. GoDaddy.com has a lot of end-user buy-in due to their marketing campaign. Does this make them the most affordable or best solution? No. It makes them the best marketers of hosting solutions. It's that simple.

I will say that ICDSoft's registration is only available along with hosting - sorry - this sort of makes them a non-answer to your problem, but I am responding to the flurry of GoDaddy recommendations and attempting to encourage you to research and make an educated decision for yourself, rather than saying, "Moo!" and following the crowd.

PowWeb.com

is another good choice. I registered domains with GoDaddy and used them for web hosting until I ran into a strange problem with my domain email. They couldn't fix it, and insisted that whatever it was, I would find the same problem with another host. But when I switched to PowWeb the problem went away.

I agree about Godaddy ... be careful

by aksv - 4/5/06 7:16 PM In reply to: ICDSoft.com by Ron Johnston

I agree about considering other options than Godaddy. They seem like bulldozers. They get you in, but can you get out? I'm trying. Not customer friendly. Not even nice. Wish I'd had better advice before getting stuck with them. I will get out after 60 days, but that isn't soon enough for me.

registrars

1and1.com has the cheapest rates around. godaddy costs more. No matter, $35 p/y is way too much. Change!

GoDaddy is good. Avoid iPowerWeb

by liozzi - 3/30/06 12:49 PM In reply to: best option for website regirstration? by frankzxcv

I use GoDaddy, Gandi.net, and recently tried iPowerWeb.

I have no complaints about GoDaddy or Gandi.net. GoDaddy is the cheaper of the two. So Between them I'd have to recommend GoDaddy.

iPowerWeb is the worst registration/hosting company I have ever dealt with. Their process is slow and buggy. Their support is even worse.

Call OneWorldHosting, and avoid GoDaddy.com

The folks at OneWorldHosting partner with a registrar named AAA. You can find out about it on the OneWOrldHosting website. I don't recommend GoDaddy.com. They are considered the "gorillas" of the industry. You're safe with Register.com, but you are paying too much at $35 per year. You might consider a multi-year package, but AAA will give you a better price than Register.com. i think AAA charges $70 for 5 years and $10 for the first year. Stay away from Godaddy.
