Drives not found

by DIAZEDGARDOR - 3/23/06 1:13 PM

I installed the upgrade for Easy Media Creator 8 and now my Dell 8400 series can not find my DVD and DVD RW drives when I reboot a Message shows at start up telling me: Drive 4 not found: Parallel ATA PATA-0 (PRI IDE Master) and Drive 5 not found: Parallel ATA PATA-1 (PRI IDE Slave)
Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run the set up utility

When I go to my computer it does not show my DVD drives and I can't use them because none of my programs can find them.
How can I do to fix this problem

Are they in your device manager?

If they are, uninstall them and reboot.

Win XP will detect them and install the drivers.

DRIVES NOT FOUND

by smithjp3 - 3/23/06 10:38 PM In reply to: Drives not found by DIAZEDGARDOR

IF THE DRIVES ARE NOT SHOWING UP IN MY COMPUTER YOU CAN TRY DELETING THE UPPER AND LOWER FILTERS IN THE REGISTRY, I AM GIVING THE STEPS BELOW: (IF IT STILL DOES NOT WORK TRY OPENING THE TOWER AND RESEATING THE CABLES , THE DATA AND POWER CABLES FOR BOTH THE DRIVES AND THEN CHECK:

TO DELETE THE UPPER AND LOWER FILTERS:

Click the Start button, and then click Run.

In the Open box type the following text:
Regedit.exe.

Click the OK button.

Click the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

NOTE: When you click the plus sign (+) next to a folder, it will expand displaying the folders it contains in the left-pane of the Registry Editor. When a folder is highlighted, its contents will be displayed in the right-pane of the Registry Editor.

Click the plus sign (+) next to SYSTEM.

Click the plus sign (+) next to CurrentControlSet.

Click the plus sign (+) next to Control.

Click the plus sign (+) next to Class.

Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

On the right hand side of the window, click UpperFilters.

Click Edit on the menu bar.

Click Delete, and then click OK.

On the right hand side of the window, click LowerFilters.

Click Edit on the menu bar.

Click Delete, and then click the OK button.

Click Registry, and then click Exit.

Restart the computer normally.

IF AFTER TRYING THESE STEPS IT STILL DOES NOT WORK, U MAY TRY CLEARING THE NV RAM ALSO IN THE SYSTEM SETUP PROGRAM.
