After reading CNET's coverage of CES 2006, I am tempted to quit my stalling and purchase a laptop now. However, I fear that if I do so, I may miss out one some big change or upgrade. What is the possibility that even newer laptops will be out this summer? Is it worth waiting? What might the changes be? I understand this is purely guess work, but any thoughts or predictions are welcome!
Apple and others will have plenty of new models. Figure that every month will have new models. This has been the way it is for 20 years.

Hi !
The new Pentium M Merom from Intel will be available arround the month of September or October ( well, this falls ). It will be the revolution in laptop processor. Dual-Core and 64 bits, it will be a very powerful laptop.
Personnally, I'll buy a budget laptop ( 500 $ CAN, a laptop from my dad ) and in about one or two years, I'll buy the lastest laptop technology.
If you want a laptop for now, don't spend 1500$ U.S. on it. A Compaq like the neighboor of Bob ( Turion 1.8 GHz, 1GB RAM, 14.1" Brightwiew widescreen, Wireless with SpeedBooster, 60 GB HD ... ) will be fine for 800 $. After two years, change it for the lastest technology. Don't forget that we are in a transition period. We are between one-core and dual-core processor. In two years, it will be only dual-core laptop processors.
Bye !
there is always going to be a better pc out there no matter when you buy they will always be newer ones.
AMD is releasing the dual coreTurion, and there is a 19" lacktop out now. New microsoft visita not being released until Jan 07 - I am buying come Mar 07 (replace my emachine unless they put out another notebook)
