It is not a 12 megapixel camera, and many of these have been reported here as quickly breaking or non functioning upon arrival. You get what you pay for sometimes. In this case, you get less.
Well, if you read of the experiences a LOT of people have had, and all the negatives and "withdrawn" feedbacks in the Linda's Camera World ebay seller site, you will realize it can be very bad indeed. An unacceptably high number of those cameras arrive DOA, or if not completely DOA, with key features not working. And you have to go through the manufacturer because these drop-shippers do not deal with problems.
Second, even if your camera does take photos (an iffy thing with these cameras), downloading them has been a serious headache for many purchasers. Evidently for many, many people, the software that comes with the thing just doesn't work. And it doesn't help to download the updated software off the SVP site.
Then you should notice that most of the positive feedbacks are provided before the user has done much if anything with the camera. (E.g.: "Great camera! I can't wait to try it out!") Now how you can decide your camera is great when you havent taken photos with it and downloaded the photos is a mystery to me. But so be it. At that, I guess these folks should be very grateful that they got something resembling a camera in the mail from their sale.
I too looked at those cameras before I bought my Kodak. And read the Cnet reviews of lots of cameras, and read the postings on this site. So I decided not to waste my limited money on a camera that has a high probability of arriving DOA, and of not letting me download my photos even if it isn't DOA.
But maybe you have an extra $100 or so lying around to gamble on a deal for which the probabilities are stacked against you. People throw more money away to get less in Vegas every day. Why shouldn't you?
You sound like such an expert on SVP cameras,Sorry mam, but I have purchased 4 SVP cameras working perfectly including the software...I bought SVP cameras with the panosonic CCD and they take excellent photos. I have no problems downloading the photos. Are you related to kidpeat in anyway???

SVP DC 12V
So yeah, I got my camera today and it is "not good". So I am getting rid of it right away.
So....I want to find a camera for about $100 that has more than 3.2 MP and an LCD screen larger than 1.5"
Any suggestion?
..................
There are no quality digital cameras available for under $100 that have more than 3.2 MP and LCD > 1.5"
You should consider a camera that is refurbished by the manufacturer.

eBay sold for $115
CNET lists for $130
Around Christmas time my boss got us a SVP camera. When I took the camera home to show the family the camera did not turn on. So after Christmas I told my boss and he told me to contact Linda Camera World. So I did. They told me to contact SVP. I thought that they were giving me a run around. But the SVP Tech support people were very helpful. I return the camera to them and got one back in a few weeks later. On the camera works great. This is the first digital that my family has. And the kids love the camera.

Do NOT buy from Linda's World. Do NOT buy an SVP camera. You get less than you pay for.
I just bought their latest model, the CDC-8630 8MP camera, i personally bought it for 129.50 dollars, and so far it seems to be great. I have no complaints, it seems to reach my expectations. You all just stop being a lil picky about the company, and let them have their dreams become true.
I also purchased the CDC-8610 8MP Camera from Linda's Camera World and am very satisfied. I feel like I paid a fair price and got the service that was promised.
This person has ONE purchace on Ebay, and it's from lindas------the only thing they have ever gotten, and then how crazy, but they show up here. Why are u researching how poor the camera is if you were so happy with it????
Go to CompUSA, Best Buy, or Ritz Camera and take a look at a Nikon Coolpix pr P mobel, any Sony Cybershot or Canon powershot cameras. THAT is quality. THAT is what a point-and-shoot camera should be. Also, compare picture quality. Go online and look for sample pics taken with any Canon or Nikon point-and-shoot camera and compare them to the pics taken with the toy you bought. Once you have done this, you will realise just how severely u were taken advantage of.
This one posted within 6 minutes of joining cnet for his/her one and only post. Why doesn't Linda show a little more creativity in creating these posts praising her business and her product?
I have just purchased a camera from Linda's. A 2006 model SVP CDC-8610. I found all the images are clear and crisp. The video smooth and precise with audio clarity rivaling that of far more expensive equipment.
The transaction with Linda was smooth. I received the camera promptly.
I plan to buy another 2006 model SVP CDC-8610 from Linda in the next few weeks for my oldest daughter.
It is possible that some of you that had good experiences with SVP cameras are legit posters. But, as one of the moderators on here said in a (much) earlier post, SVP is a dodgy company. Its cameras are made in various third world countries. The quality of the products is very uneven. So your chances of getting a bad camera are at least 50-50. You may have just lucked out.
If you're just wanting a cheap camera for the occasional family or travel pic, an SVP camera may or may not be adequate for that. It certainly wasn't adequate for my purposes, having teenagers take it around a school building snapping action photos (all blurry), video (completely crap), and the occasional schoolmates-grinning- up -against a locker, subjects posing and still, medium daylight as the light source. Some of those were OK. It still wasn't worth what I paid for it, which was why I demanded, and got, my money refunded.
That, and certainly the claim to be selling 10-12 megapixel cameras is completely bogus. Take your fabulous SVP camera to a knowledgeable photo professional and ask that person about the 10 - 12 megapixel claim. Post their comments, with their professional credentials, on here, and I may give some credence to your claim that your LCW SVP camera is "all that".
What a photographic professional will tell you is that the "interpolation", which is supposed to be this revolutionary technology, is actually simply the same amount of slightly larger pixels. So if your original photo is clear and crisp, you can print it out at a large size. If your original photo is blurry, which half of mine from my SVP camera from Linda's World were, then, you get a very large, very blurry photo. In no way is this a revolutionary technology, and in no way is the claim to have 10-12 megapixel resolution justified. It's simply false advertising.
I am completely camera illiterate, and as such I just wanted a cheap digital camera to take some pictures of my cute cats and my fiance and whatnot. The SVP DC12V-LE is what I ended up buying from an ebay retailer. All of the replies on ebay seemed to praise the cameras so much that I just bought it without looking around. Now that I have some spare time I wanted to see what other people have to say about it. The replies on this forum so far are somewhat exaggerated except the message that I'm replying to now.
The fact is that the camera is not by any means terrible and I do not feal ripped off. I won my camera for $95 plus $20 shipping for a total of $119 after insurance and all. It takes digital pictures. Some of the pictures come out great. Some of the pictures come out blurry even if you are holding your hands very still. The camera doesn't work well without absolutely proper lighting I've found, if you turn the flash on, it'll end up too bright unless you are at least 5 feet away and without the flash, the picture will obviously be too dark unless you get innovative and place your own lighting around. The LCD screen is very clear and the camera looks kind of nice, however even as I type at 12 noon in my basement with proper overhead lighting, the LCD screen is just too dark to even see what you are pointing the camera at. There is no option anywhere to change the brightness of the LCD screen and this is my major complaint. There is no viewfinder so even though its bright enough for the pictures to turn out fine without a flash at all, the LCD screen displays very darkly. I will contact the tech support to see if I can change that at all. The camera does have a function to determine the amount of time the shutter stays open, but I dont really know exactly how it works because the values only go up to +2 or -2 by .5 increments and this is definately not in seconds. I've also found that the photos come out much clearer without a flash, the flash is very weird.
The sum of my review is....
This camera is by no means for a professional
It takes digital pictures, if you play with it enough you will find out how to make them good pictures.
If you are going to pay a cheap price, expect a cheap product; I expected what I got as every other brand name 3-5 MP camera on the market is at least $200 and I simply could not afford that.
My advice...
If you need a cheap digital camera then by all means, buy an SVP because that is what it is.
If you dont want a cheap digital camera, then dont buy one and then go whining about how u got ripped off for $100 on the "wonder camera" that is supposed to be fantastic.
Knowing nothing about cameras, I still knew from common sense (even with all the positive ebay feedback) that I was going to get a cheap camera that takes worse 12MP pictures than a quality 3MP camera. Don't blame your stupidity on the company, they gave me what they advertised. If they are false advertising, then you should sue McDonalds. **** sue our government, they are the biggest liars in the world. Lieing about a product is the american way of life. Don't be upset at anyone but yourself.
My final statement is that, my camera works and I payed $120 total for it. If anyone can show me a good brand name camera that sells for about $120-$150, then please reply with a link.
