Glad you have fixed it.

by kdtaylor - 3/20/06 9:28 AM In reply to: IT'S FIXED. BOL is downloading once more (using ITunes) by tonyjk36

I have pinged dw.com.com and got a legitimate ip address and response. I will keep plugging away at it. It appears that I am getting a couple of hearing ears about my problem on the CNET side.

I have the same problem, so don't let anyone tell you it's your firewall..network settings..anti virus program...browser settings...ISP....everything on my side is the same and yet...no BOL since 3-09.
Is anyone listening?

Are you reading these?

This was posted by DES7557 who figured out how to fix it (at least on his machine):

-------
I figured out the problem. I tried to ping DW.COM.COM and it came back 127.0.0.1. I suspected that it might be a HOSTS file issue. I looked in the HOSTS file for DW.COM.COM and there it was. I deleted that entry and it started to download. I hope this will help others. Please pass this on. It might help.
-------

And hopefully in the meantime, they can try and figure out how to get it to pick back up with those having problems introduced by the re-link. But in the meantime, it looks like a solution exists. Not sure why some have had a problem with it and others haven't.

Possible fix

by acedtect CNET staff - 3/21/06 2:01 PM In reply to: Unable to receive “Buzz Out Loud” by tonyjk36

OK. Brook, who's responsible for the tracking troubleshooting, thinks it may be as a result of the server we were keeping the MP3s on. So for today's episode I switched the server back to the old one.

WARNING: We switched the server to solve the problem of people getting partial downloads. If it fixes the redirect issue, the partial download issue may arise again.

So, Brook is going back up the chain of command to see when our new podcast-dedicated server might get set up.

Thanks for your patience as we go through the growing pains. This kind of thing happens when you start things on your lunch hour and they get popular.

Yes. That worked. Thanks.

I was able to download the 3/21/06 episode through iTunes just like before. At least it is a start. Thanks, again.

May be related to crappily named MP3 files.,,
