HDMI Splitter?

by gtchris19 - 3/21/06 7:06 AM

Looking for some help. I have an HDTV with only one HDMI input. I want to run HDMI from my HD satellite receiver and my DVD player. Is there any sort of splitter on the market with two HDMI inputs and one output? I assume I'm not the only one in this boat. If not are there any other solutions on the market currently? I'd rather not have to plug and unplug a cord everytime I want to switch from DVD to TV. And I really like the perfromance of the HDMI cord.

Its co cool, even has a remote control for switching, I believe they even make a three way unit so you can add another input in the future . Only problem you may have to order one, they are hard to find in closing If you are running your audio to your amp It may be cheaper to use a d.v.i. switcher and then buy a d.v.i. to h.d.m.i. cable to your t.v. Sounds like you are doing your homework you will get a stunning picture using h.d.m.i. set up have a nice day stewart

Monoprice has a 5 to 1 HDMI splitter for a fraction of the cost of the Gefen. Great source for additional cables as well.

One more question. In your opinion, would I notice a big difference if I just went with component cables for my HDTV Sat. receiver and used HDMI for my DVD player? I have yet to buy a DVD player or else I'd just try it myself. Just trying to formulate a game plan and budget accordingly.

I have used component and DVI from my HD Sat box and really see little if any difference. Component cables from your DVD player will display all the detail of progressive scan just fine on your TV. Unless you are buying an uoscaling DVD player, you probably will not have a HDMI output anyhow. Most people do not see much value in this type of player. When the High Def player come out and media is available, you might want to use HDMI.
