Help me please with my PC

One of my children made a mistake when turning off our desktop. Then it never started again. I reinstalled all of the software:windows xp home edition, DSL internet (verizon)I updated the XP via emachines.However, now it is very slow. It takes too long to do almost anything. I wanted to install NU utilities, impossible. Any other software, the same. I have an Emachine c2685, 2.6 Ghz ,80GB HD,512MB DDR.
What can I do?

Hi, I have an E-Machines PC, and i find it to be a Pile Of Rubbish with the restore disks that come with it. You are better off Buying a copy of Windows Xp, and installing it yourself. Also, If you have a 2 CD Restore Disk Pack, the Drivers are on Disk 2.
