Hey, I've got an LCD HDTV, I know that a reg. DVD won't show an HD signal. My question is which DVD player in your opinion (Reg. or Upscaling) has the best picture quality? I have a Pioneer right now, I don't really like it too much.
It does a super job upconverting and has d.v.i. and h.d.m.i. outputs. Another idea is to hang on to your old d.v.d. player until hi-def d.v.d. players come out. I will upgrade when I'am able to rent new movies in hi-def If that ever happens good luck stewart
quality doesnt necessarily have to come at a high cost. try a web search on the specs for the "panasonic dvd s97". at a online price of $240 (jr.com), you get a lot in this player.
Marantz has some very good players. DV9600 is pretty good but expensive...

You must have a d.v.d. player with d.v.i. or h.d.m.i. output period. I have proven that componit vidio interface cables just will not work. OK facts I hooked up my nice Sony progressive scan d.v.d. player to my new hi-def t.v. using componit vidio and yess the picture was horrible I finally upgraded to a $400 denon with the same set up but it would upconvert the signal , also horrible picture So I finally bought another Denon 2910 with d.v.i and h.d.m.i output and bam bam beautiful picture, I also had a nasty picture with my Dish Network 811 hi-def sat system using componit vidio cables So I replaced them with a d.v.i. cable and bam bam beautiful and to back up this fact I just bought a new 72Hm195 Toshiba When I saw a Demo of this t.v. it was hooked up with componit vidio cables and the picture was so, so now That I have it hooked up using h.d.m.i. input the picture looks twice as good as when I saw it on display
