go and read the post you replied to.
The poster indicated that they would be staying with MS Office. Given that they have already got their Mac, the assumption is that it will be MS Office for Mac.
Your post does not make sense

lizweeks, I have the sane problem at work because we do not have OfficeX. We have Office 98. Causes a lot of problems for us on the receiving end. Fonts are a major issue.
Why would anyone want to send me a desktop publishing attempt by using Word in the first place?
Lame to try. Just DUMB!!!
Most of the people do not know how to change a document into a PDF file in the first place and the requirements needed.
I really think that everyone that has Microsoft Word is a frustrated desk-top designer.
The better choice would be let a pro prepare your file and to be sent off to a publishing group.

If you can still get a version of Microsoft office that was made for a Mac, you will find that Microsoft Office was always easier to use and had more features, in the Mac Version. I think the Office 2003 version only runs on a Mac because it is bundled with Virtual PC. So you would have to find an older version. So what? That's going to cost you a lot less any way!
What about AppleWorks? That is a very good program, too.
Why? Because OpenOffice and NeoOffice are free.
Noticed not many Mac users posting here. Wonder if they use Office or OfficeX at all?
My wife and I do. My wife uses PC at her office but is on my Mac a lot.
Wonder why?

I use an iBook G4, and I'm running MS Office for Mac OS X. It runs natively in OS X, not through Virtual PC, as technogeek3000 thinks. If I understand correctly, Apple & Microsoft have just extended their agreement that MS will develop Office for the Mac for another 5 years, at least.
I do think the OS X platform is more stable than WinXP (which my wife uses and I use at work). My XP laptop (an IBM T22) works OK, but in comparison is pretty unstable. I will say this - I have application crashes on my Mac, but it's usually Entourage (the Mac version of Outlook), and when it goes down, it doesn't take the rest of the machine with it. Probably because Mac applications don't have to muck with the Registry, like Windows apps do...
However, technogeek is also correct but probably for the wrong reasons.
Office 2003 is not a Mac product, it's for the Windows world and as such will only run on the Mac if you use VPC.
Doing it that way is a ridiculous idea as Office 2004 was written by MS to run natively on the Mac.
Microsoft will also tell you that the Mac version of Office 2004 is way better than the PC version.
