I have downloaded Adobe Reader 7.0 and installed it. After that initial installation it works fine but it will not re-open after closing. Task Manager shows that the CPU is processing AcroRd32.exe but nothing loads up.
Check Adobe for updates and maybe try an older version.
programs. Go to run and type in regedit. At the top is edit and type in Adobe to find it and delete. In search, type in Adobe files and folders. At the top is edit and select all to delete. That should clean out Adobe so you can reinstall it. Darrell
registry isn't always the best way to remove things. Even though Darrell is right about what he said, I would suggest just go under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> and delete the ADOBE folder AS LONG AS u don't have any other adobe software like photoshop or premiere. If you have other adobe softwares, then u wanna go under that adobe folder and delete just the reader.
Also make sure you have uninstalled the older version of adobe before using the newer one. It's always better to start out fresh new version than updating to it.
that version 7 is different than older versions. When you download it, you aren't downloading the actual program.
You downloaded a download manager that you have to unzip.
After that, open unzipped program and it will install from the web. Could be an uninstalled program. chuck
I only needed a PDF reader so I deleted Adobe 7.0. It's a bit overweight.
I downloaded "FoxIt 1.3.0.104" (free) from CNET after reading the user reviews.
It read all my current files and only uses 2mb.
Anybody else use FoxIt? Like to hear: Pros and Cons.
Tried several reinstalls, had to use XP restore back to prior the first installation of Adobe 7. Then the installation worked well. I will bear in mind the Foxlt.1.3.0.104 reader (free from Cnet) should the problem return. Thanks for all the suggestions.
