by jware1939 - 3/6/06 7:35 AM

I have a 10 and a 13 yo kid, and want to finally buy the a game system. What are the best options, Xbox, Xbox 360? Platstation, GameCube, others?

I think it depends what your sons are into... Xbox in general is directed towards sports and action/shooters games while having everything else, that is the majority of there games. Also on that note the 360 has a lot of games you your self would be interested in. Playstation I think is more directed toward RPG's and action games while they also have a VERY big selection in games. Nintendo on the other hand is kind of out dated at the time being If anything you would be better off getting 2 Nintendo DS's where they could have one of there own, by doing that you be spending less than a 360 but you would also have to buy double the games lol. Personally I would go with the Xbox 360 just because I own one and I love it.

Depends what games they like...
Xbox - FPS/Action/Sports/Racing
PS2 - All Around
GameCuube - RPGs, Multiplayer, Mario/Zelda

Overall, the PS2 is the best bet for you. Although PS3 will probably be more expensive then X360 and Rev, it will be worth it.

Also, PS2 has the most games.

I'd go for the Playstation 2

It truly depends on what kind of games you'll allow your kids to play. If you are looking for the biggest library with the most apropriate games for young teens, then the PS2 is the best way to go. Xbox has great games, but the choices are more limited when looking for non-mature rated titles. If you don't mind the mature ratings then Xbox offers some really cool features that no one else does. The built in hard drive is great since you won't have to buy memory cards. They can also play alot of the games online with friends through a broadband connection. This is another area where you must be careful, as many of the people they encounter online may be adults, and we all no that some adults don't mind using inapropriate language in front of children.Gamecube is the most child friendly of the group, but offers the smallest choice of games. I bought my son a PS2 because it's the most well rounded system that has something for everyone. I hope this helps.
