What...YahElite doesn't make the list?!

by MutaraSector - 3/4/06 8:09 PM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

How come YahElite didn't make this list? I mean, I know its not an official chat client, but its far better than Yahoo's own Messenger client, and with it supporting more boot resistant protocol(s), its more secure too.

iChat

by cppursell - 3/5/06 10:56 AM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

You're forgetting about the mac users. I use iChat for it's simplicity, ad-freeness, and audio/video capabilities.

GMAIL

by ltunes53 - 3/5/06 3:12 PM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Gmail instant messager is perhaps the simplest to use and it is integrated into your gmail account so you can use part of your storage (OVER 2 GB!!!!!!!!!) to store conversations.... my vote goes to gmail!!!!!!!!!

MSN rule!

by Ed-duh-win - 3/5/06 9:12 PM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

MSN Messenger's by far the best IM program...look at its ease of use, although I am irritated that it has so much problems related to signing in, but I can live with it...I solved my problem. Most of the sites that offer add-ons to IM are for MSN messenger, and I think MSN has first-hand knowledge of how to make a good IM program.

MSN is more techy

by Hendrik Massie - 3/5/06 9:41 PM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I use MSN because I can send files on it, and it has this technology that within the network, it does not route to the internet, it stays local, and ofcourse, the emoticons look a LOT better than all other applications, okay I stopped using Yahoo a long time ago, reason? too much exposure! I was rarely hit by someone who does not know me personally in MSN, in Yahoo, the minute I put myself online, I get loads of hits, I hated that.
AOL: its very old, looks old, and doesnt do the basic things.
There is also this Skype, which I think is getting better, but still, no file transfer.

let me correct...

by Hendrik Massie - 3/5/06 10:13 PM In reply to: MSN is more techy by Hendrik Massie

I just read the posts up :) well, if yahoo does post files, then its about time, but i think is that when a messenger does what you need back in 2000, while all the others dont, you quit using the others, and stick to that one, especially if that one happens to improve over time, see msn messenger has the whiteboard and remote access, in addition to its voice chat (which i have to confess is a bit clumsy) skype wins this last one
skype on the other hand is not user friendly!! i dont know how to use it the first time, msn latest version, i did not download, it seems crowded, i like simplicity, and by the way, i think yahoo and aol still popup a window when a message comes, in msn it is configurable so that you get only a flashing tab in the task bar, great!
finally: msn names and messages and avatars, who else does that?
for work space: within the office, i vote for msn, for internet chat, i think yahoo, and ICQ give you the exposure u r looking for

Prefer Yahoo! but forced to use MSN Messenger

by RADicaLSatDude - 3/5/06 11:55 PM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I prefer Yahoo! but I'm forced to use MSN Messenger, because of my dumb ass friends.

Yahoo! Messenger has always been better, its only now MSN has somewhat caught up, but Yahoo's intergrated LauchCast player and portal services are still better.

have any of you guys tried

by cedotze - 3/6/06 1:38 PM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Paltalk.com, it doesnt have the phone Feature that yahoo and MSN has but the the Webcam and Audio are amazing you can have conference chats with background music. shame that Paltalk isnt more widely used, you can find the software on Downloads.com and for $40(Preminum Pkg) a year its the best bang for the buck with all the entertainment thats on it

Instant messaging which one do you use?

by borisp - 3/7/06 9:44 AM In reply to: Which instant-messaging application do you use the most? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I dont use any one at the moment because I HATE anything AOL with a passion because they try to load one up with tons of junk! I didn't really know there are others out there. If I used MSN or Trillium, could I still communicate with those who have AOL IM? Or which one would you recommend? thanks vmlange@comcast.net
