They should be shut-down

by SELawton - 12/12/05 12:15 PM In reply to: wawa digital by hll

Moments after I placed my order for a Nikon Coolpix S4, a salesman called me telling me that I had to pay for the warranty. I told him that I thought it came with a one year warranty (which it did) and he denied it. Better yet, he said that I could not buy it without paying separately for either $79 for one year or $120 for 5 years.
I told him I needed a half-hour or so to think it over. He said it was a one-time offer, so I told him I didnt want either and he said he was going to cancel my whole order and hung-up on me.
I later confirmed that it did come with a one-year warranty from Nikon and it even states it one WAWAs website. I called back asking to speak to a supervisor and got the same guy who told me there was no supervisor there. Im furious and plan to make sure my order was cancelled. This is just fraud or deceptive trade practices. Very sleazy business. I would never do business with them again.

DO NOT BUY FROM WAWA

by donnenh - 12/22/05 8:10 AM In reply to: wawa digital by hll

This company is completely unreliable. They confirmed my order via email and then inadvertantly cancelled it. When my girlfriend called to status the order, the man who stated he was the owner was rude and yelled at her. He stated, and I quote this from her conversation, "WoooooooHooooo, got a good price" and then hung up on her. All she had stated is that she had given him a fair price and that was his response. So, what I am saying is; Do Not Order From this company if you actually expect to receive anything. Do not give them any ccard information to use.

Wawa is a waste of time and a scam

by VivInNYC - 12/23/05 8:41 AM In reply to: wawa digital by hll

I just had the worst experience dealing with this scam operation. Same story as others..they called to 'confirm' but then tried to sell me other stuff. I refused to buy accessories, just wanted camera. They said it's on its way. Two weeks later no camera, no notice, no email, nothing but two hangups when I called to find out what happened.
They have an address in Brooklyn so I'm contacting TV network here in NYC that exposes these frauds.

False Advertising

by catjalap - 1/3/06 10:59 AM In reply to: wawa digital by hll

Ordered a dig camera yesterday and they called me today to try and sell me add'l memory. Only then did he non-chalantly mention that it is 'refurbished'. NOWHERE on the site does it indicate it is a refurb. In fact, I read on their 'About Us' portion of their website that one of the reasons to buy from them is they have 'Brand new and factory fresh merchandise'. I told the Wawa rep that it is false advertising because the site purposely is set up to mislead consumer. He said he will put 'refurbished' on the description. . .we'll see.

CRIMINAL company, literally. Stay away.
by commontouch, Jan 30 '06

It's true. These guys are totally CRIMINAL! I thought the price of my camera sounded too good to be true. I ordered online and got an email telling me I needed to call to confirm the order. I thought they might use that as an opportunity to sell me up on accessories.

Which he did. After he berated me for not wanting to buy accessories, he asked if I knew the camera was refurbished. Then, when I said that was OK, he asked if I knew it's a Japanese version, as in: all the menus are in Japanese. " The US version is $299 more ", he said.

I said, " oh, I see, you're running a bait and switch here ", after which he called me a schmuck and threatened to charge my VISA 30% of the deal just for p-ing me off. Of course he knew by then I was canceling my order. I said I would talk to my VISA company and the Better Business Bureau about it.

So he called me a few other things and I hung up. I don't know yet if he charged my card.

I am amazed that a company like this can get ANY business. I hope someone can shut them down soon.

STAY AWAY FROM DIGITALEXPO.COM

by katmelissa - 11/27/06 12:04 PM In reply to: CRIMINAL company, literally. Stay away. by Jim Beckwith

I agree with ALL of you!

NEVER use www.digitalexpo.com to buy electronics/cameras. They usually show up as being the "cheapest" deal on any price matrix on the web, but don't fall into their trap! Thank GOD I realized this before I actually placed my order.. after being told I HAD to purchase a 1G memory card, even after telling them I already had one, and that I just wanted to purchase the camera, I was hung up on, while I was mid-sentence. I called 2 more times, explaining my situation to 2 other customer service reps, who were very abrasive, and who then promptly HUNG UP on me AGAIN, before I could even finish my sentence. Who does this?

THEY ARE SO RUDE - THEY DON'T EVEN CARE IF THEY LOSE A CUSTOMER. IN RETURN FOR THEIR ABSOLUTE NASTINESS, I AM WARNING FELLOW CAMERA BUYERS... DigitalExpo.com = BAD BAD.

Stay Away from Digital Expo Big Time

by rashbaugh - 1/3/07 3:06 PM In reply to: STAY AWAY FROM DIGITALEXPO.COM by katmelissa

My experience is ditto. Their sales method is probably illegal in that they make a public offer on the internet at a price they will not honor unless the buyer agrees to buy a whole lot of overpriced additionals. When I tried to buy a Canon SD-630, I had to call to "confirm" the internet order, which I did. The guy tried to sell me a very expensive additional memory card, then a extra battery, and then an extended service warranty. When I declined, he ended the conversation. I then received a email that read as follows: "Due to product allocation we have the item that you ordered on backorder for 6-8 weeks from today is date. The specified time frame that was chosen to receive your package can not be filled. Therefore your order has been canceled..." Note that at neither the beginning of the telephone call nor the end did the sales rep say anything about a delivery backlog. So don't waste your time or risk your money on this company.

Everyprice / WAWA / Digitalexpo - What a SCAM

by nyeconomist - 1/20/07 8:23 AM In reply to: CRIMINAL company, literally. Stay away. by Jim Beckwith

WHAT A SCAM
I ordered a camera from Digitalexpo.com via Everyprice.com. Got a comfirmation e-mail instructing me to call digitalexpo to confirm order by phone. Salesman gave me the same crap I'm reading in other complaints, trying to sell me overpriced accessories which I wouldn't buy. A few days later after I couldn't track my order I called them and was told my order was cancelled because they were out of stock. What a suprise.

I went back to the digitalexpo web site, saw the camera was in stock and called to order. The SOB asked how much the price was on their site and said it was in stock. Then the same crap, trying to sell me overpriced accessories which I wouldn't buy. It suddenly became out of stock. What a suprise!

Get this---I went to the everyprice.com website and tried to post a review about digitalexpo. It wouldn't let me register to write the review. What a suprise!!

I guess Wawa is some past iteration of digitalexpo.

I'm notifying the NYS Better Business Bureau and the Atty Gen's Office.

Amazed WaWa now Expo Digital, is still in business

by du7byh3i - 1/20/07 9:55 AM In reply to: CRIMINAL company, literally. Stay away. by Jim Beckwith

I wrote my tale of woe last June with these jerks. They not only pulled the bait and switch, cancelled the order when I wouldn't buy an extra battery (they said the one that came with the camera lasted only 15 minutes), but they then stole my credit card number and made several purchases over the weekend, causing me a lot of time and the necessity to change my credit card number. With everything that I'm seeing on this site, can anyone tell me why these criminals are still in business?

Hope People Read Before Placing Order

by CCOVP - 1/31/07 6:53 PM In reply to: CRIMINAL company, literally. Stay away. by Jim Beckwith

I wish I had read this thread before calling DigitalExpo today.
Fortunately I did call instead of placing an order on line.
When I called, I got a guy who grunted something like hello. I had to ask him if this was DigitalExpo and he grunted that it was.
I told him the digital camera I was interested in purchasing and asked if it was in stock. I was told it was. He then tried to sell me an expensive extra battery. When I declined, he told me the camera was out of stock. By this time, I wouldn't have bought anything from him anyway.
I tried to post a negative review on Everyprice.com, and the message says my review is "pending." Gee I wonder if it would have posted if it was positive?
STAY AWAY from CriminalExpo er I mean DigitalExpo if you value your hard earned cash and credit!!!

FRAUDULENT OPERATION

by countmattula - 3/5/06 1:09 PM In reply to: wawa digital by hll

These folks are not on the up and up. Not until after I gave them credit card info did they inform me that the camera I wanted, which was advertised as NEW was in fact refurbished.

I would like to know who to contact and how to contact them in order to get these guys off the internet.

Anyone with any ideas, please contact me at harrisz@inland.net

Regards,

Don Harris

WAWA DIGITAL IS A SCAM...REPORTING TODAY FOR INVESTIGATION

by evad33 - 4/19/06 6:43 AM In reply to: wawa digital by hll

THIS IS THE WORST WORST WORST WORST ONLINE SITE TO DEAL WITH IT IS FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!! I CALLED TO PLACE AN ORDER BECAUSE OF THE PRICE BEING A FEW DOLLARS CHEAPER BUT IT IS FAKE!!! THEY IMMEDIATELY CONVINCE YOU TO BUY ACCESCORIES THAT YOU DON'T NEED AND THUS LOWERING THE CAMERA PRICE TO RIP YOU OFF ON THE ACCESCORIES. THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW AND FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. THEN THEY HANG UP ON YOU WHEN YOU DON'T CHOOSE TO PURCHASE ANY FURTHER "BULL*&" FROM THEM. I AM REPORTING THEM TODAY TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU FOR INVESTIGATION IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!! THIS WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF.

by jaannawaz - 4/26/06 8:58 AM In reply to: WAWA DIGITAL IS A SCAM...REPORTING TODAY FOR INVESTIGATION by evad33

They are sincerely crazy. I would report them myself, but I have very little time, and I'm not sure a high-school kid could do that. >___> But yes, I entirely agree, they've been running for far too long, and they NEED to but shut down NOW.

Wawa ( Starlight) Scam artists/Illegal activity

by Jonko69 - 5/2/06 9:49 AM In reply to: Please Report them to the Proper Authorities by jaannawaz

This company should be shut down!! What is the attorney General doing? They have been conducting bad business for way to long. I just submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & the Attorney Generals office. Look at their complaint record. No point in writing a description, I have read my story many times in other reviews.

Stay away from this company ( they also go by Starlight Cameras)

Report Wawa

by Michael Tsark - 5/23/06 10:31 AM In reply to: Please Report them to the Proper Authorities by jaannawaz

I have begun the process of reporting them to the New York Attorney General's Office and the City of New York Consumer Affairs Department. My exchange student ordered a camera in February, the money order was cashed March 31 and I have been calling them trying to get her money back or a camera since. I was told last Monday 5/15/06 that they would be sending me a check, but of course they didn't. When I called them yesterday, they threatened to pursue legal action against me because I have been calling them trying to get someone to speak with me. Besides going through the legal channels, I plan to have as many people as I can to call them frequently to check on the status of my order so that they are unable to bilk other people out of their money. I have made it a personal mission to get this poor girl's money back. If you have any suggestions about how else to prevent them from stealing from other people, please let me know. Thanks
