SLOW SYNCHRONIZATION DOWNLOADING NAPSTER FILES, AGAIN.

by nutmuffin - 2/22/06 8:00 PM

Hello everyone , I hope someone out there an answer to advise me of what to do next?

I was having a slow synchronization problem with my Iriver H10 (5g) when downloaing songs from Napster. (I have napster to go). Iriver told me to download new firmware, which i did. Songs downloaded from napster quickly the next day or 2, but today, heres the problem again. I tried to download 10 songs and its taking forever to synch up ! Its taking 1 hour to get to 40% synched. I gave up. my mp3 is just sitting there, basically useless !

I have already downloaded new firmware , what else can i do ? Is this a napster problem ?

anyone have any new ideas ? thanks !

Sell that Iriver piece of crap on ebay and get an IPOD. There is a reason Ipods have sold in the millions. It's a Good Product that WORKS.

Iriver has an inferior product.

Yeah, Im coming to that conclusion.

Whats wrong with Irivers ? why does this happen?
Since youve owned your Ipod. you've never had this problem ?

IPOD is incompatible

by THX 1138 - 2/23/06 1:38 PM In reply to: Solution: by phoenix8603

Trouble is, Ipoo is incompatible with Napster, Rhapsody, and Yahoo music "To Go" services.

I've got three Irivers in my household (Two H10 5GB, and an H320) and once I learned what I was doing, I never had any problems.

Granted, Ipoo is a decent product, but if you want to use any of the "To Go" services, you're out of luck.

I suggest going to the Napster Forums, or switch to Rhapsody or Yahoo. I've heard a lot of people have had trouble with Napster To Go.

Bandwagon Idiots

First of all Iriver makes a good product, Napster is the piece of crap in this scenario. I get so tired of all the Ipod dufus's acting like there are not other MP3 players out there. The Ipod has sold in the millions because people are too stupid to look at alternatives and want to be on the FAD train with everyone else.

I have owned several MP3 players and tested a lot of others (Old electronics store employee), and let me tell you the Ipod isn't any better than a lot of other players on the market.

I have owned and currently own an Iriver MP3 player, and never had a problem with any of them. This is a napster related issue.

So, try to find a better reason than your MP3 players sucks Ipod Fanboy!!!!!!!!!

" So, try to find a better reason than your MP3 players sucks Ipod Fanboy!!"

Since this is my first MP3 , and i dont have anything to compare with, I can only conclude;
1) its the player or
2) its napster.
The reason I am here on this forum asking questions is so that i can gather enough info to make a decision.. Im here trying to find better reasons......
I respect your knowledge (having worked in electronics )but I really can do without your ascerbic attitude,so,.. tone it down please.

I see issues in WMP too

by orbs2 - 2/26/06 12:32 AM In reply to: This is my first player by nutmuffin

I noticed that everytime I had issues in Napster, I had issues in WMP10 as well. I tried a Creative Zen Micro. More reliable than the H10, IMHO. But it fell short in other areas. I just recently bought a Samsung mini player. It is really small but the darn thing is reliable and fast.

Wasn't trying to offend

I wasn't directing my Ipod comments at you nutmuffin, I just tire of people recommending the IPOD whenever someone has a legitimate problem. I was just making the point to that guy, there are other players out there that are just as good or better than the IPOD.

In your case I noticed the problem with napster on my GF's player, and I don't use Napster or WMP and I don't have any issues. She uses Napster and WM10, so I think the problem is there somewhere.

Ok, understood..
So you think there is a connection between Napster and WM player 10? Interesting, because we use both.

as an experiement, maybe we should try Real Player and Real Music. to see if theres a difference ?

oh please enough with the IPOD

by CanalGal - 2/26/06 9:29 AM In reply to: Solution: by phoenix8603

Have any of you so called IPOD rebels tried other Mp3 players? Bottom line- take the time to try other mp3 players- then come and talk about how great you think the POD is..You just might be singing a different tune- a little ditty that goes like this "I don't want my IPOD anymore" <s>

A couple of tricks may help

by orbs2 - 2/23/06 2:38 PM In reply to: SLOW SYNCHRONIZATION DOWNLOADING NAPSTER FILES, AGAIN. by nutmuffin

Did you install FW version 2.51?
Just upgrading from any version before that does not help. You have to actually use the recovery options on of the first few screens. I think there is a button that you press called recovery. That formats the hard drive. Granted you will loose your content, but with a To Go service such as Napster, you can simple it back on.

Yahoo's service is crap. But with Napster, there is at least customercare.

Speaking of recovery, that leads me to another question..

by nutmuffin - 2/25/06 6:54 AM In reply to: A couple of tricks may help by orbs2

Is there a way to do the recovery without uploading a new firmware revision ? if so, how do I do that. I dont care if i loose content, because as you said, i can always get it back, most of my stuff is on my C drive library anyway..

Post 15 of 15

Not really - Keep the exe handy

by orbs2 - 2/26/06 12:28 AM In reply to: Speaking of recovery, that leads me to another question.. by nutmuffin

I am afraid not. iRiver did not follow the best practice of providing a Right/Click Format functionality. So "Recovery" via the firmware upgrade tool is the only way. Here is what I do:

1) I downloaded the FW Upgrade util onto my hard drive.
2) I also downloaded the v2.51 of the FW which is just a zip file to my hard drive as well.
3) When I fire up the util, I click manual. Then I select the Zip file for the FW.
4) I select recovery. It is lame, but it is the best way to format. You are upgrading from 2.51 to 2.51 :)

But at least you can do so with out being online.

Hope this helps.
