It is in my opinion every cellular service provider is responsibile to provide service and phones that work to its customers without hassles and at a fair price.
working for a cellular company myself I can tell you that it is true. The brand and type of phone do matter. Keep this in mind when shopping for that new phone. Don't just go for the free phone or the cheepest possible. Find out: How long they have had the phone? Make it clear up front to the rep that is selling you a phone that the most important thing to you is reception (this will let the rep know that if they show you a more expensive phone you won't bolt.)The rep doesn't care what phone you bye because most reps are paid on lines not type of phone. Also find out what customer feed back has been on the model your looking at. ask about features like bluetooth conectivity for wireless head sets might not be important to you today but you are going to be with this phone for 2yrs things change. Good luck hunting
CenturyTel was aweful and just about everything you can imagine. >:( long delays with there helpline etc...Always getting disconnected >:( The new service I have is Unicel-Good company...And way better then the last one I had-Thats was 3 years ago-Now there called Altell.
I have used TracFone for two years and like it. The current phone uses Cingular network. I have no problems with it.
The local office for the most part is slow, slow, slow however this last time they were very helpful..Would not want to work there. Not a happy place...Too nmany customers and not enough help..I use Sprint
We use sprint for as our long distance carrier. BAsed on our records, they found out that we make a lot of overseas calls. So their office tries to sell their long distance package.
In the first place I didnot feel comfortable them calling and selling over the phone like a telemarketeer. Secondly I didn't think it was necessary but ok, lets here about it.
Then they asked for my name which I refused to give avaoiding any future unwanted calls. So this sprint guy rudely shouts back and says "your account is cancelled".
I had to go to all the trouble and call back to uncacelled our account. If I had a choice now, I will never deal with sprint again.
Never had an outage in the past 8 years and great coverage.
Excellent. We have two Motorola V555 phones with antenna ports on the back. We use the Radio Shack (Cat. #17-3445) black plastic tombstone shaped antenna with stand. We can lock in reception even in the mountains of WV, when no one can pick up a signal.
Nextel.
My cell provider is Nextel.
UNICEL
Another AT&T customer or EX-customer hijacked by Cingular. I had no choice. I had just signed a 2-year agreement with AT&T (because I had just changed my plan to a national plan) so I signed a new agreement, having no idea that I was really signing an agreement that would force me to use Cingular for 2 years. Very annoying. Just on principle I will probably dump Cingular in September 2006 when 2-year "contract" expires. Cingular has a hell of a lot of nerve obliging AT&T customers to stick with them for however long or pay the $175 early termination, which I refuse to do. Most people that i know on Verizon have no complaints so it will probably be that for me.
I am on your side. I am in the same position with a family plan working and four numbers. I don't know who is the best but I know they all charge too much!
The sales are going upward every provider of service and phones are out of control. I think it can best be said "it is all about the money"
The prices are just crazy. If only we could go back to having to pay $1500 for a phone and $2 per minute. The services themselves are actually coming down, $9.99 share plans were never heard of a couple of years ago and there was no way to do half of the things that these new phones allow you to do. I will take the prices today over the past anytime.
Overall, I love Verizon, especially VCast and VCast Music. I would give verizon an 11 of 10 for features and phone selection. One thing you should know, before you switch, if you call verizon (800 number), and you want anything that is not simple, they are nasty! I would suggest that you find a nice person at a local store, and stick with him/her.
