Cingular Service

by softwarecritic - 6/22/07 9:42 AM In reply to: CINGULAR by marge201

I just cancelled my contract with Cingular and got plenty mad when they billed me for an unused cycle and had the audacity to charge $175 termination fee. I filed a complaint with the FCC alleging fraudulent and abusive practices.

I the bought a Jitterbug phone which is great!

Vodafone, in my book the best provider in Europe

NTT docomo

Because I live in Japan. NTT docomo is most popular provider, and there are many hot products. Vodafone is also popular: it's 3rd greatest provider.

Verizon Rules!

by cosmosjoshys - 2/21/06 9:16 PM In reply to: Who provides your cell phone service? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I have had verizon for about 3 years now and it's the bomb. I always get good reception anywhere I go except in certain parts while on Mammoth Mountain, CA. I go to Alaska every year and it works on all the roads and major highways with great reception too. Let's see....Oh and I used it on my way down to Ensenada, Mexico and it worked great there too. Now for CINGULAR.....

I have not met one person happy with Cingular's reception. All my friends have it because it is a few dollars cheaper, but they always get calls dropped. I just don't think its worth a few dollars in savings to hear static.

Verizon Customer Service: ON PAR

The few times that they have billed me incorrectly (to the tune of a hundred bucks in roaming charges in Alaska one time) they credited my account without any hassle because I was in their extended network.

There's my two cents and I'm stickin' to it.

Cell Phone Service

by johndarce - 2/21/06 9:22 PM In reply to: Who provides your cell phone service? by Marc Bennett Moderator

Since I not longer need a cell phone for business, I switched to TracPhone, pay as you go.
In my area (CA), they use the Verizon Network.
I am very satisfied with this service. This is as good as the Sprint Service I had when I was working and needed a Nationwide Service.
Even though the cost per minute is higher, when you consider the minutes I use to lose each month, I would guess the actual cost per minute compares favorabley. I would recommend TracPhone to anyone who would want a quality, Nationwide service.

T-Mobile 9.5

by bknowledge - 2/22/06 8:17 AM In reply to: T-Mobile and happy with it by aliensquirl

I got it 08/2005 and the only problem is that the phone LCD goes blank (Samsung D415) but I call in sunday night and the replacment is on my desk by wednesday free S&H no questions asked and considering I got a $200 slidder for free, no rebates or money up front. No drop calls, billing errors and great service, **** no reason to change.

Same here

Here in the Greater Hartford area, I haven't had any dropped calls and the sound quality is perfect, it's like I'm talking on a landline. I have never had to deal with their customer support, but I have heard that they're good. My aunt's blackberry broke and they shipped her a new one for free in about 3 days.

Don't buy the Samsung X475 holster from them, though... the phone falls out fairly easily and they break really easily.

Cingular Service

by johndarce - 2/21/06 9:30 PM In reply to: Who provides your cell phone service? by Marc Bennett Moderator

It has been three years since we switched from Cingular Service. My wife used it in the East SF Bay Area. At our house, we could not get any service, even though there was a major Cingular Company located about 2 miles from our house. We had to go outside and walk a block away from our house to use my wifes phone. Finally after much disgust, I called Cingular to complain ant ell them I wanted to cancel the service because it did not work in our area. They insisted that I pay the penalty. I argeed all the way to the President's Secretary, with no success. Finally, I constacted CA office for complaints about cellular service and found out that many people in my area had similar problems. They wrote a letter to Cingular and after much hasstle I finally got a refund for the penalty charge I received. I was very unimpressed with Cingular. Maybe these days their service is better, but based upon my very frustrating and bad experience with them in the not too distant past, I would never give them a chance again. I have used Sprint for my own service and now use Verizon and have had wonderful quality service with both and would recommend either of these over Cingular.

Never a problem

by waxer - 2/21/06 9:35 PM In reply to: Who provides your cell phone service? by Marc Bennett Moderator

I was a Cingular user for quite some time. I thought that I had to live with the poor service and non-existant support. You know, just like everyone else with their service.

I finally decided to try Verizon just over two years ago, and it was the best decision that I ever made. I have never had a problem that hasn't been addressed and fixed the first time. Their customer service is amazing, and no complaints about their coverage, even though the Bay Area is a tough place for service.

I couldn't have been more thrilled when Cingular and AT&T merged. Imagine that, the worst and next to worst rated companies in customer service (see Consumer Reports), merge into one big mess. My wife, who would constantly harass me about my poor service with Cingular, now gets stuck with them after the merger (she was an AT&T customer). She got double billed by Cingular and AT&T for three months, and neither one had a record of the payments. And even today, her service regularly gets turned off at least twice a month for no reason at all.

It amazes me why anyone would put up with that kind of crappy service. And now that Cingular is screwing their customers on the "Rollover" minutes, there really is no reason to use them.
