please post comments... im considering this over the dv1000, please post any gripes or whatever, i heard it has a weak case?
help?
yup
The dv5000z is better than the dv1000t because of it AMD Turion 64. It's a very nice laptop. Maybe the graphic controller is bad because it sponges 128 MB of the main RAM, but it delivers good 3D performances. I studied it many weeks, but my budget drops after this.
It has many external connections, very nice display and good quality built. HP offers a very good after sale service.
I just purchased the dv5000. My CTO was AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-34, 80GB 5400 HD, 1GB Ram (2 Dimm), Bluetooth, 12 cell battery, 128MB Dedicated Video Ram (that is correct - dedicated). Out the door cost was $1173 (including shipping).
I am very pleased with the performance of this laptop. I like the style as well. I think that the screen is too bright on its brightest setting. I use about 2-3 clicks from the lowest setting. The usb ports are really tight which helps keep items locked in. The 12 cell battery does raise the laptop some, but is worth it. It booted into windows in ~30 seconds out of box. Logging in was additional 10 seconds.
It came with minimal junk software which most of it can be removed via control panel. Most junk was click to install - which I like. Other junk was links to internet to install or register.
I have not played many graphic intensive games yet but Sims2 at highest levels is a breeze with absolutely no hicups.
The dv5000 is really a great buy.
