Has your online behavior changed in the past two years because of increased security concerns?
Yes, drastically (in what way?)
Yes, slightly (in what way?)
Not at all (really? tell us more)
The internet is becoming ever more replied upon in this digital age. With most information just a click away, and downloads taking just moments on fast DSL and cable internet connections, other forms of communication, including books, newspapers, mail, and even phones, are slowly taking the back seat to the world wide web. With more and more people 'logging on,' especially the world's youth, the question is not 'has online behavior changed,' it's 'what affects have come from online behavior changing?' Just something for those who don't reside in the tech world to think about. (Those of us who are geeks don't have to think about it...we know there are no harmful effects of living on computers, don't we? ;))

I have placed my provider, Optusnet.com.au in my address book with the name 2optus. This means it is easily accessible being the second on the list.
As I scroll down my email, I can pick out the spammers. These I forward to cablesupport@optusnet.com.au and hope and trust that their expertise is far better than mine and that they should know how to stop these bloody idiots!
I do make online purchases but only through Discover Deskshop. There is still a risk but not as great using my actual credit card number.
What's the rave? When you get my age, the only one to trust is yourself: and there are days that is a mistake. The whole silly mess causes one to wonder, just who or what is instigating all this security flimflam? The whole world is Henny Penny - the sky is falling.
I'll just carry on, like the good little trooper "we" are supposed to be...!
I have added complexity to my passwords, change them more often and use different passwords for sites that could lead to identity theft.
With all the security available, I see no reason to change my habits. Of course, I have never been too reckless to start with.
Changed ,? not a whole bunch. I did put sp2 ,on my machine, and I do scan more often.Twice a day instaed of once,(lavasoft ,disk cleanuo etc. plus a new av program ,dang thing cost 50.00 but a new computer costs much more ...
...in the last couple years I have picked up a firewall, two virus scanners, four anti-spyware apps and an app that stops processes from starting until I give the okay (my firewall also does this, as well as two of the anti-spyware products).
My online behavior has changed little.
With the use of Norton Antivirus, Zone Alarm firewall, and several free anti spyware programs, all automatically updated, I go where I want on the internet.
Strange as it aseems I hace serious clausterphobia now and this is after serving 20 years in Submarine Service. I also had a fear of flying before 9-11 but no it would take a family emergency to bet me on a comercial flight. I'm no afraid to fly military or small private. Pretty much a land liner anymore.
Why should I change my online behavior? I have NEVER entered personal financial information anywhere on the net. I don't need online banking. My bank is 2 blocks away. I don't need to pay bills on line. I can pay those I have in the same place.
Sure; I guard against viruses, trojans, spyware, etc. But steal my financial information? Not a chance!
Yes, I have been using my security programs every day, and sometimes twice a day when I have been online for several hours.
I use AVG free, AdAware, Spybot, and Windows Malicious
Software Removal tool and find these have found any
problems I run in to.
The incedents of spys has increased fourfold in the last two years though the viruses have not.
I also have found that Windows Explorer is attacked far more frequently than any other search engine I use.
Thanks for CNET, I have learned so very much from you all.
Two years ago I used Windows Firewall, and I still do. I also continue to use Norton Antivirus. But mainly I just rely on my own judgement. And though there may be more scams out there than there used to be, I deal with them the same way I always have; by only trusting legit sites.
I have downloaded avg free and msn and use yahoo free and zone alarm and have booted out paying to norton, tks JIM
