Stewart,

So why don't you listen to your own advice and get rid of those Cerwin Vegas you still have for the 6th and 7th speakers?

Get off your dead ass, quit congratulating yourself on almost buying that Toshiba (you'll probably change your mind befoe they deliver it), and get back down to your super dealer' place and buy two more Atlantic Techs for the rear surround?

My recent experience

by bstellar - 2/6/06 8:23 AM In reply to: Home theater help by gerger1977

I, too, went to Circuit City to hear the Onkyo 780 HTIB, & thank God I didn't take the plunge. After exhaustive research, I decided to get a better Onkyo receiver (one that has a high-current amp), and build the system slowly, mainly around Polk Audio speakers. Crisp, clean, & not too expensive, it was the way to go. Many different suwoofers out there, but I bought an SVS, and between the Onkyo 703 receiver, the Polk speakers, and the SVS, what a system!

Take your time & but the best you can afford, little by little - you'll be thrilled in the end.

Very Nice!

You'v got a great receiver there. Polk has excellent quality and sounding speakers at reasonable prices. That SVS sub is the jewel in your system, what an excellent house rocking choice!

Enjoy,

HDMI vs Component

by RoadRunner6 - 2/7/06 4:57 PM In reply to: ROADRUNNER YOU ARE SO MEAN by stewart norrie

Stewart, from what I've read it often depends on the specific match between the TV and the other component. Some HDMI/DVI links seem to give improved performance and other times it seems that it is the same or occassionaly worse with some increased macroblocking, etc.

This is not to bag the question, but I think in this situation it is a good idea to buy the cable from a source you can return them to if unhappy. Buy both types and do a comparison for yourself. jThat 's the only way to be sure.

Enjoy that new system!
