I have a Treo 600 and the video plays great on it using TCPMP and Lathe. Why the mplayer? The video does play through TCPMP so am I missing something? Thanks for the info....I want a T-shirt!!!
Iron-on transfer paper!
Never thought of that...thanks!
I hope CNET doesn't have a problem with that. I mean, you would be advertising them. The good thing is, I could actually get the size I needed.
MPlayer is Linux-originated freeware (it's been ported to Windows though) and seems to be the swiss army knife for playing and transcoding videos. I've seen it pressed into use for a number of Tivo-based hacks. It is a commandline program that has a zillion switches.
Lathe is simply a frontend to MPlayer designed specifically for cutting videos down to size for small screens. It also has some nice batch capabilities so you can specify a to-do list and let the transcoder work overnight. Lathe also comes with the mplayer binary so you don't have to worry about integrating software from different sources.
There is a freeware version of Lathe that is called something else (I've lost my notes) but its frontend isn't as nice and in my book, $7.95 is almost free.
I bought the pay version of Lathe and it is great. I love when software just works! Now I watch videos on my Treo 600. This just adds more functionality to the 600 and lets me save my $$ by not having to buy an ipod w/ video.
