okay it all started when i decided to download ebay toolbar,so i get it then decide to get rid of it since i only use firefox and the toolbar shows up on internet explorer. so i go to control panel and remove it using the "add or remove programs". After thats done i go along with my business and open up my documents only to find out that pretty much everything is gone, all my files, pics, and videos. How do i get all my stuff back???
i tried searching for things in "search" in the start menu, i typed in my ebooks because that file pretty much lead to all my important stuff, and the file showed up for every profile on the computer except mine. Man, this has me bummed...
is there something i can use so it recovers everything deleted on a certain date?
The only thing that comes to mind that's easy to use would be TuneUp Utilities Undelete feature. You can download a free 30 day trial of it here:

...have you tried System Restore to revert to a time before the installation of the toolbar?
Alternately, try to access the files on one of those other profiles (I assume you mean users). If that works, I'd back those files up immediately and consider wiping the drive clean and reinstalling.
If these don't work, then I hope you have those files backed up somewhere, along with your browser bookmarks, etc.
Hope this helps,
Paul
alot of deleted stuff does show up but im looking a particular folder which contains other folders in it, and all my vids and pics
hi friend,
pictures are usually in gif, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, psp formats and video are in avi,mpeg,mpe,mpg,dat,3gp,mms formats.
so you can search files and folders in windows start button .In case of win98 ,win2000 by specifying *.jpg like that in all drives(c:,d:,e:,f) whatever drives you have . In case of winxp enabling hidden and system file search is required in advanced search in search from start button .
If files had been deleted then undelete is required. if norton utilities allready installed then norton protected
recycle bin produce recovery screen where spcifying file name you can get deleted file.
Installing any program in that drive will destroy any chance of recovering files.
so boot up with bootable-cd .Then file explore tool to file exploring if data is already there. Else goto process of data recovery through differnt data recovery tools.
Hi there:
I cam across your post here and got to thinking that maybe whatever files that you are trying to find, that you cannot and are thinking that they had gotten deleted some how, could just be hidden from view.
In windows there some files and folders that are hidden from view that you cannot see unless you was to change your folder settings in windows explorer.
So I got to thinking that maybe when you had remove the ebay tool bar that some how the settings for that files and folders was changed to where they are now hidden from your view but are really still right there even though you cannot see them at all.
So do try this here. If you have a My Documents folder icon on your desktop there. Click on it or rather double click on it and in the window that opens up click on the tools menu button at the top of the window and click on floder option.
Now in the box that opens click on the view tab and scroll down in the box that you see till you see where it says hiddne files and folders. Now click on where it says Show hidden files and folders to select it.
Also if you would like do this alao and that is where you see box that has checkmark in it by where it says Hide protected operating system files. Click on that box to remove the checkmark and then click on the apply button and then click ok to close the box.
Then when you get to the view of your My Documents folder. Then goto wherever you had those files and folders saved at and look for them and see it they are now showing up or not. And also do Please come back here and post about the kind of results that you had got there and also to say as rather those files and folders are showing or not. IF they don't show up at all, then i guess that you can just conclude that maybe they had gotten deleted some how and then maybe you could use a file undeleter program to see if you can recover them at all.
Also have you checked your recycle bin folder since that is where files nad folders and other things goes to when you was delete something. Also one more thing that I just want to mention here and that is whenever you was to right click on a file or folder or whatever and click on properties you will should notice right there on the box that opens up a little check box by where it says Hidden and if you was to check that box then you can Hide it from view if your folder options are set to Do not ahow hidden files and folders. And the Do not show hidden files and folders and the setting to hide protected operating system files are the default settings in windows explorer.
Hope any or some of this helps out.
That's it for now. Take care till later. ![]()
