When I was setting up my WiFi router. Which my 2 computers are hooked to, by LAN CAT5 cables. I was having trouble with the router password. The iexplorer browser eventually stopped showing the -User Name / Password popup box -. It just goes straight to the Unauthorized 404 page. Now that I have the password problem fixed, I can only access the router with firefox. This causes a number of access problems with automatic computer network functions that want to use explorer and iexplorer. Could anyone tell me how to reset iexplorer to show the password box again. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling iexplorer through the -add/remove windows componets- feature in the -add/remove programs- program in the control pannel. Also I tried to -remove traks- with system mechanic 4.
Also should 2 computers hooked to a WiFi hub, useing LAN CAT5 wires, be able to network? I am lead to believe if I hooked them up through the WiFi part, they could be made to network, but I do not want to take the speed hit. I only have a TREND 802.11g at 54Mbs.
I am using XP home SP2 and eMachines T34062 2.93GHz Celeron 340 processor, 1GB DDR (problem computer). Also
2nd computer eMachines T2895 2.8GHz 256Mb DDR. Bad USB ports and PS2 ports on the board. I am running I/O through the Lan Port on board and a 5ea USB.1 port PCI card.
1. Open up Internet Explorer.
2. Click on Tools.
3. Click on Internet Options.
4. Click on the Content tab.
5. Click on the AutoComplete button.
5. Click on the Clear Passwords button.
Yes, you should be able to network your computers via the cat5 cables. And a cat5 connection is actually faster than wifi. ![]()
