Burning DVD's from recorded tv shows created on harddrive

by Joe Campbell - 2/2/06 12:36 PM

My need is simple: I want to burn DVDs from recorded tv shows so i can watch them on my big-screen television. The system I'm using is HP Media Center: 1Gb memory, 300Gb harddrive, connected to my digital cable box; Sony MFM-HT95 tuner/monitor; the various programs I have tried include the HP Media Center - which creates proprietary files that can't be burned and read on a standard DVD player, Sonic Digital Media Plus V7, and Muvee 4.0.

Among the major problems is saving a two-hour movie to disk (for example, a total size of 7Gb), then being unable to burn it to a 4.7Gb size Maxell DVD +RW disc. I can't figure out how to break up the original disk file into manageable sizes to burn multiple DVDs.

Does anyone know of a software program that can record, manage the size of the recording, then burn a DVD(s) so I can watch them on my big-screen television?

Thanks in advance.
