I Don't Want to Play By Sony's Rules

by WhiteshooZ - 2/2/06 9:45 PM In reply to: iPod Killer Part 2 by salating

From past experience with Sony mp3 players, they seem to have all sorts of copyright protection on their players. Making it impossible to play mp3's that were not ripped on your PC and other hokie "rules"

Also, my last Sony mp3 didn't even play mp3's. I had to convert everything to some different format.

Just a few thoughts...

The replacement will be a cell phone, duh.

by bspier - 1/31/06 6:21 PM In reply to: What MP3 player series is most likely to overtake the iPod? by Marc Bennett Moderator

We used to carry around a Palm Pilot and and phone and a CD player. Now it's a phone and an IPod. Soon it'll just be the phone. (once they get the battery life up there).

Torturous User Interface (duh!)

by cellphonejunkie - 2/1/06 6:12 AM In reply to: The replacement will be a cell phone, duh. by bspier

What phone plays music that does not have a torturous UI? My 3G music phone from Verizon sure does....

I'll take the iPod clickwheel any day of the week! It doesn't take up too much room to carry my Nano!

Besides, those over-the-air downloads to mobile phones are w/ crappy 32 kbps compression.... That's like listening to an 8-track!

Unless these phones have iTunes, the almost BILLION songs sold is a pretty high barrier to overcome....

ipods suxxorz

by jazzyjake - 1/31/06 6:21 PM In reply to: What MP3 player series is most likely to overtake the iPod? by Marc Bennett Moderator

mannnn...
ipods suck
i am sick of hearing ipod horror stories, "it died and when i sent in my 60gb video, they sent me back a 256mb shuffle!!"
fools....
i dropped my creative microphoto on pavement like, 8 times b4 it broke, so i contacted creative, the next morning there was a box on my doorstep...wanna tell me about customer service ipod fans?!
and plus, the microphoto owns all ipods, all day long, not to mention the M:vision. iPod's are like....STALE weaksauce compared to creative's mp3 players...
yea...that's right STALE WEAK SAUCE!!

I Totally agree!

by Bec-j - 1/31/06 6:28 PM In reply to: ipods suxxorz by jazzyjake

The Microphoto is the bomb! I too have dropped mine like thousands of times and it's still playing like there's no tomorrow!

Ipods are soooo over-rated! Whenever i hear about those damn things it's only when someone's complaining their's has broken or another bagging them out!

My Little ''Sven the Zen'' (As i called it) is the Bomb! I wouldn't trade it for an ipod in a million years!

I hecka totally agree, but for my archos gmni 220

by dmaulchris - 1/31/06 7:06 PM In reply to: I Totally agree! by Bec-j

the only ipods better than mine are the videos, cause mine does not do that, but I did get it a year ago for $100 less than a comprable ipod. I have dropped it a heck of alot also, and it has not broken.

P.S.
Other companies don't purpisfuly make their product scratchable to make you buy expensive covers!!

I totally disagree!!!

by Ed-duh-win - 2/4/06 7:23 PM In reply to: I Totally agree! by Bec-j

OK, lets consider these things. The Creative guys probably offered you guys such a good customer service because they don't have enough customers, so they're trying to hold onto the existing ones to try to get them to buy their product again. That's all there is to it. How sad you guys can't grasp the fact that iPod has owned all other hard-drive mp3 sales COMBINED!! And thats not by just twice. I'm sure iPod owned other mp3 by like, 5 times in total sales; and the reason why people choose iPod is that they are the trusted marques, and its easieness to use, and its cult status.

Way Wrong!

by heathert33 - 2/9/06 2:33 AM In reply to: I totally disagree!!! by Ed-duh-win

Bad: Battery life? Maybe an hour and a half for video and
if you only listen to music you may get 3 or 4
hours and that is it!
Video format must be supported by itunes or
converted by itunes, pain in the rear and just another way for apple to make money.
Super easy to scratch!!! I had it for a grand total of 4 days (before I returned it for a refund)and from the minute I took it out of the box I put it in a good Belkin leather case when i took it out, SCRATCHES!!! TONS OF THEM........FROM THE CASE!!!!AND YES I HAD THE "WHITE" ONE NOT THE BLACK AND STILL WAY SCRATCHED UP EVEN THOUGH NEVER LEAVING THE CASE!!!
Also I was told by the guy at Best Buy when I returned my ipod that they get them in for returns and complaints constantly! Enough said. He even guessed why I was returning it before I told him.
I would prefer drag and drop to using itunes, it's a pain to delete crap from itunes then plug in your ipod and update the stuff you deleted, should be a way to delete from the player in my opinion.

All in all, not good to me or at least not good enough for the $300 I spent, then again I am cheap and if I pay alot for something I have high expectations and I am picky I guess, although I am a bit of a technology junkie..(cell phones, mp3's, cameras), so I think I have a good idea of what would be expected from a GOOD mp3 player. If you are a die hard ipod fan you will probably be happy, but I was not. I will continue my search for the perfect player and I am now hunting the pink zen vision m

Uhh...

by Rawnchie14 - 2/10/06 11:59 AM In reply to: I totally disagree!!! by Ed-duh-win

So what you're saying is, Apple's got Creative beat. Oh hell yes, you're correct on that, Apple definately wastes all others in sales. But how the hell is that a good thing? You pretty much said right there that, because Apple has soooo many customers... that each individual customer = a smear on their shoe. They've got plenty more customers if you're having trouble, so the say... "Hmm... we'd lose money if we helped them out, so nahhhh..." And send you a "complementary" Shuffle after complications, to insult your intelligence and hope to keep you buying from them. Just like a doggy treat!

Well you might be right with that one too. Thus the reason I could care less if they're the reigning king of MP3 players, if thats what that status does to a company. I'll join up with a lower tiered company if they actually VALUE my business with them, and treat me real good after I purchase thier product as oppose to offering me expensive accessories and obnoxious music subscription plans instead of customer service.

Please Apple folks... enjoy being disregarded completely by your gods. You're a walking wallet to them is all.

---> IAudio and Creative seem to be the only contenders to overthrow. But once again, I hope neither do. I dislike corporate behavior with technology. Stick true to what matters, quality. <---

Fools that bow down to Apple advertising!

by oscar7 - 3/8/06 5:31 PM In reply to: I totally disagree!!! by Ed-duh-win

The only reason apple does have many other mp3 players beat in sales is because they have so many fools bowing down to their advertising. I will admit that apple mp3 players are good, but I still can't see why customers don't go for the better Creative Vision M. Advertising is a powerful tool when it comes to sales. Creative is stronger in other countries such as Singapore; they aren't as strong in sales in the U.S., because they don't advertise as much in the U.S.

None of which says that the iPod is actually a good product. Just a popular product.

Sales figures have nothing to do with product quality.
