Not sure what you need help with

by TONI H - 1/21/06 4:08 AM In reply to: need help with windows me by audie2

but if you can boot into safemode, see if that KB item is listed in Add-Remove Programs and can be uninstalled. More details from you and what you need would be helpful.

Same Problem

by esand - 1/22/06 5:35 PM In reply to: Not sure what you need help with by TONI H

I am having this same problem. My system monitor showed a spike in cpu power usage, up to 100%...I checked Dr. watson and it gave me the same message as the other person, involving KB891711.exe and mmtask.tsk, I checked the Add/remove programs, KB891711 is a windows ME update. So I went ahead and deleted it, not sure what the update did, but things appear to be running better.

as explained here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;891711

And you should reinstall it from Windows Update.
