Sharpness baby, that's all that matters

While the current Sony 24" flat screen sound quality isn't quite up to the previous Sony 24" flat screen model nobody comes close to Sony's picture sharpness in a standard definition CRT. I own both old and new models. If your Sony has audio out just feed that audio to a amp that feeds Bose speakers. Then you have the best possible living room standard def. experience you can get.

I have no desire for HDTV when I can already easily count the freckles on Andy Rooney's nose on my standard def. Sony 24" flat screen. This outstanding video quality is possible because my local affiliates feed their signal to my Cox Cable headend via fiber.

You say that now but just wait... I can't even watch standard now. HD football, basketball, and even discover is so addicting.

No Problems with definition, but.....

by Batchain - 1/19/06 2:04 AM In reply to: Bet you will change your mind... by Rtweed

The Hitachi 32" CRT that just had its 10th birthday is sharp, clear and lacks no definition. All I'm wondering is where the hell all that incredible stereo I used to get until about 5 years ago went? "Warner" supplied it and "Comcast" kept it faithful when they took it over until that effect faded out fast until it was totally lost.
That room was sonically as close to a movie theater as you could imagine until about three years ago and now it's no different than any monaural sound. Upstairs, my sister's 6-month-old Sony *stereo* TV doesn't give a hint of its *stereo* sound.
As bedazzled as two of my neighbors are (I'm not, they're big and, to me, the "HD" just isn't there.) with their flat screen HDTVs I have a habit if using my *ears* along with my eyes assessing any TVs features.

She will change her mind once she really sees 1080i HD setup correctly on a good HD capable TV, whether it is Plasma, LCD, DLP, or Direct Tube HD sets.

28" Flat Screen CRT 100hz from JVC does it for me

by lauti1970 - 1/17/06 11:13 PM In reply to: My main TV set at home is: by Marc Bennett Moderator

My Tv is a couple of years old but is does work fine and the picture quality of it is excellent. I don't have a fancy home theatre sound machine and I don't need one right now as my daughter makes enough noise. Anyway, should need to upgrade in the future I'll think I'll go for a plasma.

I have a NEC HT1000 DLP overhead projector. My home theater is set up for both movies and music reproduction with music the more important. If you have inexpensive equipment, it makes no sense to buy good cables as you won't ever get quality audio or video from cheap equipment. I can say that, with my system, cables have been very important especially in music reproduction. And even expensive cables can have a sound of their own. If possible, try to use a dealer that will let you return cables that don't do it for you so to try another brand. Video is quite another matter as most projectors and TV's offer component inputs for DVD players. And to top that, now you can use DVI cables as well. S-video and composite don't cut it anymore.

This projector is a winner. great picture! You should connect it with a digital DVD player; hdmi or dvi with the correct adapter. It's rather cheap, too.

Most stores will probably not have hooked up in a demo room because it's an entry level unit but it does live up to the excellent reviews.
